Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Reporting to the VP Marketing and Communications, the Director of Content will be responsible for creatively sharing RiseBorou2019s mission and impact through storytelling and writing. Leveraging the organizationu2019s owned channels u2013 website, newsletter, social media, print and digital collateral, and more u2013 the Director of Content will execute a strategic storytelling plan that supports overall fundraising goals, drives brand awareness, and furthers RiseBorou2019s reach across New York City. Specific duties and responsibilities include: u2022 Develop and execute a refreshed content strategy that reflects all aspects of RiseBorou2019s work, including but not limited to our housing portfolio and development work, social services programs, and more. u2022 Serve as the chief writer and editor within the organization by building relationships with colleagues and service recipients to craft engaging stories that can be amplified across channels. u2022 Help craft a cohesive narrative about the organization, working with senior leaders and staff to pinpoint the RiseBoro story. u2022 Oversee a content calendar that guides the organizationu2019s public storytelling. u2022 Refresh the organizationu2019s website, newsletters, philanthropy collateral, tenant communications, and annual report to better serve users, tell RiseBorou2019s story, and raise funds and awareness. u2022 Support on social media management, including posting, editing, and overall maintenance. u2022 Manage a roster of freelancers to support storytelling (writers, photographers, videographers, graphic designers). u2022 Perform other related duties as assigned. COMPETENCIES u2022 5-7 years of direct storytelling experience for a large, multi-faceted organization. u2022 Ability to manage a comprehensive portfolio of owned channels to succinctly and effectively advance an organizationu2019s mission and philanthropy goals. u2022 Experience with key marketing platforms for newsletters, websites, and fundraising. u2022 Understanding of social services organizations and housing policy preferred. u2022 Adept at building and maintaining relationships to advance storytelling goals. u2022 A self-starter with an eye and ear for a story and how to translate that into building brand awareness and raising funds. u2022 Excellent writer and editor with unmatched attention to detail. u2022 Willingness to wear many hats, play many roles, and help build a team from the ground up. u2022 Commitment to RiseBorou2019s mission, vision, and values. u2022 Ability to understand the concepts of institutional and structural racism and bias and their impact on underserved and underrepresented communities. u2022 Commitment to work that supports communities who have experienced systemic oppression and bias (e.g. people of color, LGBTQ+ people, immigrants, justice-involved persons, etc.). EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE u2022 Bacheloru2019s degree in Journalism, Marketing, or professional writing required.
