Job Title: Mechanical Engineer Job Description The Mechanical Engineer will be a highly hands-on, ambitious, and technically curious contributor supporting product development, testing, documentation, and continuous improvement across multiple propulsion and powertrain programs. This role is ideal for an early-career engineer who thrives on understanding how things work, how they are built, and how to troubleshoot them at the component and system level. Responsibilities + Contribute to the creation and maintenance of engineering design packages, drawings, tolerance analyses, bills of materials, and test specifications. + Engage in hands-on activities including assembling, modifying, testing, and validating hardware. + Translate ideas into manufacturable designs using SolidWorks. + Collaborate closely with technicians to understand how processes, tolerances, and materials influence outcomes. + Support the development and release of new products, ongoing product improvements, field issue resolution, and test execution. Essential Skills + BS in Mechanical Engineering + 1-3 years experience (could include internships, MECOP, or significant experience from involved academic clubs such as Formula SAE, Baja, AIAA or similar). + Mechanical engineering fundamentals including design, tolerancing, GD&T, mechanics, and materials. + Strong proficiency in SolidWorks. + Hands-on mechanical aptitude for building, assembling, and troubleshooting. + Experience in creating drawings, BOMs, design packages, and test documentation. + Problem solving and prototyping skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience with rocketry, aviation clubs, Baja/Formula SAE, and/or personal automotive/garage projects. + Highly hands-on and mechanically intuitive. + Resourcefulness and a passion for machines and systems. + Ability to contribute both in CAD and on the floor turning wrenches. Work Environment The work environment is a blended office and shop setting, providing dynamic opportunities for hands-on work alongside computer-based tasks. This role offers a fast-paced, iterative hardware development experience. Role is fully onsite. Candidates must be local to the Portland Metro region and available to start work by March. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mcminnville, OR. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.
