Title of Position: Recreation Associate FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Department: Childcare Reports to: Recreation Coordinator Positions reporting to this position: None Salary: $16.79 per hour Purpose of the Position: Under the supervision of the Recreation Coordinator, the Recreation Associate will assist in the development and implementation of educational and recreational activities that will support the racial, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds of the children and families served by Win. Responsibilities: u2022 Plan, organize, and participate in social activities with clients and their children. u2022 Develop and cultivate relationships with community organizations and other city programs that provide free and/or low-cost recreational activities to homeless families. u2022 Work with Recreation Coordinator to organize special events for holiday celebrations reflecting the racial, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of our families. u2022 Provide escort and supervise the children/youth during field trips and outside activities. u2022 Responsible for monitoring all recreation equipment in need of repair. u2022 Ensure that children do not use broken equipment. u2022 Participate in case conferences, agency wide and staff meetings, as required by program. u2022 Complete necessary documentation to support and track activities of clients. u2022 Prepare reports required by funders and Win in an accurate and timely manner. u2022 Provide continuous feedback to Recreation Coordinator and interface with the program staff and Winu2019s Department of Childrenu2019s Services to ensure the program meets the needs of children. u2022 Actively participate as a member of the shelteru2019s multi-disciplinary team to ensure that all child care programs and child development plans are effectively coordinated. u2022 Must be able to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and days that NYC schools are closed. u2022 Perform other duties as assigned. Essential Functions: u2022 Must be able to ascend/descend stairs in the assigned building. u2022 Must be able to escort children on field trips using public transportation. Qualifications: u2022 Commitment to Winu2019s mission, vision, and values. u2022 High school diploma or equivalent required. u2022 Minimum of two (2) years of experience providing educational/recreational activities for homeless or at-risk children. u2022 CPR /First Aide Certification eligible. u2022 Good organizational, written and verbal communication skills. u2022 Ability to interact in a supportive and nurturing manner with children and parents. u2022 Bilingual, English /Spanish a plus. u2022 Must be able to work effectively in a team environment.
