Front Desk Receptionist - Part TimeThe Nightingale-Bamford School is seeking to hire a part time front desk receptionist to provide warm and cordial reception assistance to students, faculty, staff, and visitors at the Nightingale-Bamford School.This position reports to the Director of Safety and Security. This is a part-time, hourly non-exempt position.The schedule is based on a 20-25 hour work week. The security officers actual work hours will be primarily 1:00 PM (or 2:00 PM) to 6:00 PM but may require flexibility depending on the needs of the school. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to):Maintain a presence at the front door and screen visitors before they are allowed entrance into the schoolReceive and announce all visitors and issue them a visitors pass Answer the main phone in a courteous manner and assist all callers with their questionsAssist students, faculty/staff, and visitors with general inquiries/questions.Maintain a professional appearance at all times.Maintain a professional attitude in all interactions with the Nightingale community and its guests Maintain and monitor reception work station including security cameras, access control, and visitor managementReport and document any school incidents and/or crimesComply with all school policies, procedures, general orders, and instructionsComplete all required reportsRespond to all calls for service and emergencies throughout the schoolhouseMaintain a professional attitude towards the Nightingale community and its guestsPerform all other related tasks and duties as assignedREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Diploma from an accredited high school or equivalency programMinimum of two years of relevant experience, particularly in the areas of hospitality, reception or customer serviceAbility and willingness to work with all faculty and staff and work as part of a security teamFlexible, self-motivated, detail-oriented problem-solver able to handle multiple priorities simultaneously in a high-pressure atmosphere; excellent communication skills are a mustAbility to assess and manage a potential emergency or crisis situationAbility to read, write, and speak the English language sufficiently to understand and process all required paperwork and to communicate effectively with students, faculty, staff, and visitors; perform administrative duties in support of the Security DepartmentBasic computer literacy is required: familiarity with G-Suite applications, navigating CCTV and access control software, and printing visitor badgesPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Sufficient stamina to perform all essential job functions for a standard shiftAbility to walk the school property, climb stairs, and assist or carry a disabled, ill, or injured personAbility to sit and stand for long periods of timeSufficient strength and flexibility for stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, lifting, carrying, and other movementsPERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL CHARACTERISTICSA shared understanding of the mission of the School and a demonstrated commitment to the core principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion Must demonstrate cultural competence and be able to understand, appreciate, and work with constituents across varied backgrounds and culturesExcellent attention to detail, professional attitude, good judgment, a high level of integrity, and a strong work ethicHigh professional and ethical standards for handling confidential information Exceptional interpersonal skills and an ability to work collaboratively with all levels of constituentsSALARY RANGEIn compliance with NYCs Pay Transparency Act, the hourly salary range for this position is $28 to $30 per hourNightingale considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidates work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.HOW TO APPLYInterested candidates should apply by submitting a cover letter and resume online at
