Regional General Manager - Gateway North AmericaRole OverviewThe Regional General Manager - Gateway North America is a senior operational and strategic leadership role responsible for the performance, growth, and brand delivery of multiple attractions across the region, including Madame Tussauds, SEA LIFE, and Peppa Pig World of Play.This role partners closely with the VP, North America Attractions (Gateway) to drive sustainable EBITDA growth, operational excellence, guest experience, and brand consistency across all sites. The Regional General Manager ensures that each attraction delivers against financial targets, quality standards, and Merlin’s global vision of creating memorable guest experiences.As a multi-site leader, this position requires strong commercial acumen, strategic planning capability, and the ability to coach and influence General Managers to deliver high-performing, compliant, and guest-focused operationsKey Leadership AccountabilitiesStrategic & Operational LeadershipProvide clear, future-focused leadership across multiple Gateway attractions in North AmericaDefine and execute short-, medium-, and long-term regional strategies aligned with Merlin’s vision and commercial objectivesAct as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on operational performance, risk, and growth opportunitiesLead General Managers to deliver consistent operational excellence and guest satisfaction across all sitesFinancial Performance & Commercial DeliverySupport and oversee achievement of annual EBITDA and profit targets across the regionPartner with General Managers to establish robust P&L targets aligned with company strategyEnsure strong business planning, including revenue per cap, operating expenditure, and cost controlMonitor weekly and monthly financial performance and take proactive action to deliver profit objectivesPresent regional financial performance and insights to the VP, North America AttractionsDrive commercial initiatives, upselling strategies, and cross-promotional opportunities to increase incremental EBITDAMulti-Site Operations & Guest ExperienceConduct regular site visits with General Managers to review operational performance and site challengesEnsure best practices are shared and embedded consistently across all attractionsMonitor guest feedback, mystery shopper results, and quality metrics to ensure standards are met or exceededChampion a culture of exceptional guest service and operational excellenceBrand, Marketing & Cross-Functional CollaborationPartner with Go-To-Market (GTM) teams to ensure coordinated delivery of national and regional marketing strategiesSupport implementation of brand campaigns, promotions, trade marketing, and PR initiativesEnsure brand identity and communication standards are consistently applied across all attractionsMaximize cross-promotional opportunities across the Gateway portfolioCapex, Asset Development & Long-Term PlanningCollaborate with GMs and GTM teams to develop a strategic 5-year Capex development planEnsure attraction-based projects are commercially justified and delivered on time, on budget, and to specificationSupport rational investment decisions that enhance guest experience, operational efficiency, and ROIPeople Leadership & CultureCoach and develop General Managers to enhance strategic, financial, and operational awarenessMonitor recruitment, retention, engagement, and performance across regional teamsFoster a culture of trust, empowerment, accountability, and continuous improvementLead by example as a visible role model of Merlin’s leadership behaviors and valuesSupport training, development, and succession planning across the regionGovernance, Compliance & Health & SafetyEnsure full compliance with licensing, regulatory, and health & safety legislation across all attractionsEmbed Merlin’s Health, Safety & Security policies and safe working practicesEnsure risk assessments, incident reporting, and corrective actions are consistently appliedMaintain operational governance in line with Merlin Operations Manual and HR policiesEducation, Experience & Leadership ProfileEssential ExperienceProven experience at General Manager or senior multi-site leadership levelTrack record of delivering EBITDA targets in high-volume visitor attractions or hospitality-led businessesStrong financial planning, budgeting, and commercial performance management capabilityExperience leading large, cross-functional teams in complex operational environmentsDesirable QualificationsBachelor’s degree in business, Management, Marketing, or related fieldStrong presentation and stakeholder engagement skillsAbility to travel domestically and internationally as requiredValid driver’s licenseWorking Environment & ExpectationsFlexible working model (Remote/Hybrid depending on business needs)Availability to support operations during weekends, holidays, and peak trading periodsRegular travel to attraction sites across the regionDynamic, fast-paced, and guest-focused operational environmentMerlin Values AlignmentA Merlin leadership role is grounded in living the values that define our culture and guest experience:We Care - Prioritizing safety, wellbeing, and guest experienceOwn Your Craft - Driving excellence and continuous improvementDrive & Discover - Embracing innovation and growth opportunitiesGo Together - Collaborating across teams, brands, and regionsEnjoy the Ride - Bringing energy, optimism, and passion to our workYour Adventure Awaits!
