Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflightThe role is part of the In-Space Systems business unit, which is focused on addressing two of the most compelling challenges in spaceflight today: space infrastructure and increasing mobility on-orbit.The selected candidate will join our propulsion integrated product team and help drive the manufacturing technology for new pressure vessel designs and within Blue Origin's new In-Space Systems (ISS) business unit.Responsibilities:Independently lead small teams to accomplish the following:Fabricate welded sheet metal propellant tanks for new spacecraft designs through the development, qualification, and flight production phases.Develop tank assembly practices, contribute to the tool designs and provide critical feedback to the engineering team to improve the manufacturing work instructions.Coordinate in-plant and out-plant tasks with engineering, welding, cleaning, and inspection work areas and assist with those operations as needed to assure on-time completion.Travel to support special processes and testing at parallel, evolve the tanks work center from a small development space to a broader flight production work center by:Creating flexible workstations for assembly, welding and inspection operations to build multiple tank designs.Evaluating and selecting the best tools for performing assembly, functional tests, dimensional and optical inspections.Developing innovative and efficient ways to safely store and transport the delicate piece-parts, subassemblies, and tanks.Qualifications:8+ years of experience demonstrating hands on-experience with assembling precision cleaned components in a cleanroom environment.Demonstrated ability to lead small teams of technicians and coordinate with multiple work centersKnowledge of welding practices and interest in expanding that knowledge.Demonstrated R&D machine shop skills including but not limited to lathe, mill, shear and filament 3D printing operations.Relentless attention to detail when collecting and analyzing measurementsHighly organized, especially in the context of team communications and work center & tooling layout (5S practices)Able & willing to travel to suppliers and various Blue Origin sites up to 10% time.Strong software skills Windchill, Jules, Issue Tracking, Excel, Word, PowerPoint & OutlookAbility to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationshipsU.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.Physical Requirements:Climb ladders and stairsLift and carry 50 lbs. for limited durationsWork schedule may vary and depend on hardware and testingRemain flexible by working overtime and weekends (when necessary)Desired:Demonstrated experience setting up a production work center for aerospace hardware.Hands-on welding experience or interest in obtaining those skills.Experience working with tanks, propellant management devices, and/or COPV's.Ability to quickly sketch, white board conjure up solutions for fixtures and packaging problems and independently turn them into reality.CAD experience with Creo pensation Range for:WA applicants is $43.74 - $61.24Other site ranges may differCulture StatementDon't meet all desired requirements?
