Job Summary GateWay Community College is looking for an Office Assistant in the Student Life Department! You must be FWS eligible to apply for this position. Job duties include: Greet Visitors, Provide Resources & Customer Service Escort, and Provide Directions to Visitors Assist with the Planning and Implementation of Events Include Contacting Vendors, Submitting Requests for Facilities and IT, and Set Up and Tear Down Events. Print Posters and Place Sidewalk Signs Around Campus Schedule Campus Visits on Campus Update Bulletin Boards: Remove Old, Post New, Organize and Encourage Students within the Center to Observe Appropriate Enforce the No Food or Drinks Policy Around Furniture and Clean and Organize Supply Cabinets Learn and Operate the Popcorn Machine General Cleaning of Student Life Area to Include Conference Room, Laundry Room and Gecko Pantry/Clothing Boutique Straighten Literature Racks and Tables Disinfect and Clean the Work Area Wipe Down Glass Encasement Conflict resolution skills when working with upset students, staff, faculty, and the public Answering phones and multitasking in a busy office environment Adhere to strict student/faculty confidentiality Additional Information In order to qualify for aFederal Work-Study (FWS) job, a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) must be on file for the current award year and have eligible financial needs based on the college requirements. Please for more information prior to applying to a Federal Work-Study job. FWS is a need-based, federally funded program. FWS requires the completion of a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and confirmation of federal work-study eligibility as determined by the financial aid office. FWS does not directly pay for tuition, and funds are only available to eligible students attending a minimum of six (6) degree applicable hours in a federal student aid eligible program. The FWS award amount is based on your FAFSA results and college funding availability, which will determine the number of hours available to work while supporting the students academic goals. Desired Qualifications Computer competence and skills required, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, and the capacity and enthusiasm to learn school-specific data systems like SIS, HCM, and appointment calendars Strong Listening skills Experience providing administrative support to a diverse population Special Working Conditions May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen. May require lifting up to 20 lbs.
