The research associate will report to two fellows within the Latin America Studies program focused on rule of law, corruption and organized crime, elections, constitutional change, and U.S.-Latin America relations.This full-time position is based in CFR’s New York City office on a hybrid basis. CFR currently defines hybrid status as working at least three days a week onsite, with Tuesdays and Thursdays considered institutional anchor days where all staff are required to be onsite.Provide administrative support to the fellows, including handling correspondence, scheduling, making travel arrangements, and responding to requests for information,Research specific areas for talks, articles, and other publications; assisting with the proofreading and editing of articles, book chapters, and other written material,Assist the fellow with social media outreach, including publishing on the website, and/or using social media applications such as X, Google+, etc., as needed,Track news and data sources,Coordinate events, including preparing invitations, travel arrangements, corresponding with speakers and presiders, helping to prepare background papers and materials for distribution, and providing other logistical support,Assist in managing budgets, including preparing budgets and tracking monthly statements, monitoring grant information and writing reports and requests, and preparing vouchers for reimbursement,Provide support across departmental lines and for other fellows, upon request.Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in international relations. political science, economics, and/or Latin America studies, with high academic credentials1+ year related research and/or administrative experienceRelated Skills and Other RequirementsStrong understanding of political economyReading, writing, and speaking fluency in the Spanish languageA published, non-academic writing sample is a plusWorking knowledge of Portuguese a plusExcellent computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, and internet researchExcellent research, writing, and editing skillsStrong organizational skills and high attention to detailPlease submit a résumé and cover letter stating your interest in the position.The full-time annual compensation range for this position is $55,000-$58,000 depending on experience.In addition to competitive salaries, CFR provides employees with an outstanding benefits package.The Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) is committed to fostering a foreign policy community in the United States that is more representative of American society, recognizing that diverse backgrounds and perspectives contribute to broader, more informed participation in the foreign policy debate and lead to an enhanced understanding of the world and the United States’ role therein.
