Description We are looking for a Litigation Attorney to join the Office of the Corporation Counsel in Waterbury, Connecticut. This contract position involves providing legal services to a municipality, including handling litigation, trials, and administrative proceedings. The ideal candidate will bring strong communication, research, and writing skills, coupled with a proactive and detail-oriented approach. Responsibilities: u2022 Provide legal advice and representation to municipal departments, boards, and commissions, including attending meetings as needed. u2022 Prepare cases for trial, including conducting depositions of witnesses and drafting motions such as dispositive motions and motions in limine. u2022 Represent the municipality during trials, hearings, and proceedings before courts, administrative agencies, and other governing bodies. u2022 Conduct legal research and draft comprehensive legal opinions based on applicable statutes, case law, and municipal regulations. u2022 Ensure compliance with the cityu2019s charter, ordinances, codes, and policies in all legal matters. u2022 Manage all phases of litigation, including discovery, briefing, and motion practice. u2022 Draft clear and concise legal documents with attention to accuracy and detail. u2022 Address additional legal tasks and responsibilities as assigned. Requirements u2022 Licensed attorney with experience in civil litigation and trial practice. u2022 Proven ability to draft motions, briefs, and other legal documents effectively. u2022 Strong skills in conducting discovery and managing litigation processes. u2022 Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. u2022 Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail. u2022 Ability to adapt quickly and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. u2022 Knowledge of municipal laws, regulations, and administrative procedures. u2022 Proficiency in legal research and analysis.
