A full-time educational opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) to support one student in an Alaskan school setting. This role offers 35 hours per week and could be placed within either an elementary or middle school, with the final assignment to be determined.Responsibilities: Provide clear, accurate interpreting services between American Sign Language (ASL) and English for one student. Facilitate effective communication in classroom and educational settings. Collaborate with educators and support staff to ensure the students accessibility and inclusion. Maintain confidentiality and abide by professional ethics at all times.Qualifications and Experience: Minimum of an associate degree in American Sign Language, Deaf Studies, Education, or a related field from an accredited institution. For educational interpreters in Alaska, a minimum score of 4.0 on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) is required. A passing score on the Educational Interpreter Knowledge Assessment is also mandatory. Candidates with a score of 3.0 on the EIPA may be considered provided they commit to achieving a score of 4.0 within two years of hire.
