Typical courses may include Introduction to Chemistry for Health Science Majors or Introduction to Chemistry for non-science majors. Format is typically in-person or partially online. This is not a fully online position.u2022 Communicates expectations and establishes clear criteria through appropriate instructional means, to include but not limited to developing course syllabi, handouts, and material supporting the instructional process; evaluates student progress and provides clear, timely feedback.u2022 Supports students with availability and accessibility beyond scheduled meeting times. This may include office hours, e-mail, and other effective means of responsive and timely communication.u2022 Complies with district policy, procedures and directives, state and federal regulations, orders and statute and collective bargaining agreements.u2022 Complies with state and federal law applicable to professional duties and responsibilities; Follows established procedures in areas such as printing, turning in grades, bookstore orders, student financial aid requirements, safety and health issues and related administrative process.u2022 Contributes to the department's efforts to improve student success/retention in chemistry.u2022 Support and advance the Spokane Colleges strategic plan, and perform other duties as assigned.u00a0MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSu00a0u2022 An earned Master's degree in Chemistry from an accredited institution OR a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from an accredited institution and a Master's degree in a related field from an accredited institution.u2022 Demonstrated use of effective oral, written, interpersonal and collaborative skills.u2022 Acceptance of the responsibility to promote the welfare and best interests of students at all times.u00a0DESIRED QUALIFICATIONSu00a0u2022 Experience teaching college chemistry courses.u2022 Interest or experience in the use of technology for the learning environment, including various teaching modalities (hybrid, online, etc.) and learning management systems.u2022 Interest in, and knowledge of, chemistry curriculum specific to allied health fields, such as nursing.u2022 Work or life experience in a career field involving the practical application of chemistry.u00a0
