Career level - M5 Responsibilities Responsibilities + Strategic Leadership: Asthe Senior Director of Applied Science, you willbe responsible forsetting the strategic direction for our cloud services from a scientific perspective. Collaborate with the executive team to align the company's vision with the research and development agenda. + Applied Research: Lead a team of scientists, data engineers, and developers in conducting applied research to enhance our cloud services. Explore emerging technologies, analyze market trends, andleveragedata-driven insights to develop innovative solutions that meet the evolving needs of our clients. + Cloud Technology Development: Drive the development and deployment ofcutting-edgecloud-based technologies, including but not limited to cloud infrastructure, data storage, serverless computing, artificial intelligence, and machine learning services.Lead design and implementation of scalable, distributed systems that help in training multimodal and video foundations models at scale. You will work in a collaborative environment with applied scientists, ML engineers, and software teams to deliver performance and reliable AI infrastructure and models. + Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Workclosely with cross-functional teams to integrate multimodal capabilities into various applications and products.Foster a culture of innovation and collaboration between the Applied Science team and other departments, including product development, engineering, and marketing. Encourage knowledge sharing and joint problem-solving toleveragethe full potential of our cloud services. + Product Innovation: Work closely with product managers and engineers to translate scientific advancements into practical, scalable, and marketable cloud services. Ensure that our products are at the forefront of technological innovation and competitive in the cloud services industry. + Data Analysis and Insights:Utilizedata analytics and machine learning techniques to derive actionable insights from large datasets. Leverage these insights tooptimizecloud service offerings, enhance performance, and drive informed business decisions. + Intellectual Property and Patents:Identifyopportunities for intellectual property creation and patent development based on innovative cloud technologies and solutions. Guide the team in preparing and filing patent applications to protect our intellectual assets. + Quality Assurance: Implement robust testing and validation procedures to ensure the reliability, security, and performance of our cloud services. Uphold industry standards and best practices in cloud technology. + Market Trends: Stay abreast of multimodal technology changes, competitive offerings, and customer feedback toidentifynew opportunities for product enhancements and expansions. + Budget Management: Oversee the budget allocation for the Applied Science organization, ensuring resources areoptimizedto meet research goals and deliver impactful cloud solutions. + Contribute to the development and optimization of distributed multi-node training infrastructure + Model Development: Design, develop, and train state-of-the-art image and video generation models that meet the highest quality standards. + Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support scalable and secure deployment pipelines. + Assist in diagnosing and resolving production issues, improving observability and reliability. + Write maintainable, well-tested code and contribute to documentation and design discussions Preferred Skills and Experience + A Ph.D. in Computer Science (Machine Learning, Deep Learning), or a related field is preferred. + Experience:Demonstratedexperience in leading research and development efforts within the cloud services industry. Proventrack recordof driving innovation and developing cloud-based solutions. + Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of cloud computing technologies and services. Range and benefit information provided in this posting are specific to the stated locations only US: Hiring Range in USD from: $141,200 to $338,500 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.
