This position carries out those activities required to maintain and correct damage and make repairs to physical buildings, structures, and facilities. Additionally, this person will do a variety of work involving equipment use such as ladders and scissor lifts and will also be responsible for routine general repair work. Responsibilities + Performs a wide variety of routine repairs and preventative maintenance tasks on commercial property. + Modifies and repairs interior/exterior walls systems, roof systems, floor coverings, windows and window coverings. + Installs, textures and repairs drywall. + Builds and installs partitions and cabinetry. + Fits and installs prefabricated window frames, doors, doorframes, weather stripping, interior and exterior trim, and finish hardware. + Performs interior/exterior painting. + Installs and repairs lock/key systems. + Replaces/repairs receptacles, lamps, ballasts, sinks, toilets, faucets. + Works daily with a computerized maintenance management system to enter, close and record work orders. + Cleans work area, tools, and equipment. + Assist other maintenance technicians in a wide variety of tasks. + Primarily works a day shift, M-F. + Routine travel by commercial airline is required with some overnight stays. + Participates in a revolving on-call schedule with other department employees. + Monitors and escorts as necessary subcontractor personnel. + Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unitu2019s success also may be assigned. Qualifications + A high school diploma or GED equivalent. + Minimum five (5) years directly related carpentry and/or building maintenance experience. + Valid Alaska Driveru2019s License with three (3) years acceptable driving record to be eligible under company vehicle insurance policy. Skills and Abilities: Must be able to work well with others as directed and be a team player. Able to work independently and prioritize workload. Must be able to assume the role of site lead technician in an emergency. Language skills are sufficient to: Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Write routine reports and correspondence. Math skills are sufficient to: Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Reasoning abilities are sufficient to: Solve practical problems and deal with variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
