Job Description:The Sous Chef will assist the Head Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations, with responsibility for preparing and supervising the production of authentic Thai dishes and Japanese sushi specialties. The role requires demonstrated expertise in traditional Thai curries and sauces, as well as sushi, sashimi, and poke preparation. The Sous Chef will ensure food quality, consistency, and timely service across dine-in, online orders, and catering services. Full time.Min 2 years' experience. Food Handler's License within 60 days. $63,128/year. Duties & Responsibilities:- Prepare, cook, and present authentic Thai cuisine, including curries (green, red, panang, massaman), soups, stir-fries, and noodle dishes, using traditional spice blends and techniques.- Prepare Japanese sushi, sashimi, nigiri, rolls, and poke bowls with correct knife handling, rice seasoning, and plating methods.- Supervise any additional kitchen staff, delegate tasks, and train team members in authentic Thai and Japanese preparation techniques.- Oversee mise en place for both Thai and sushi stations, including preparation of curry pastes, sauces, marinades, garnishes, and sushi rice.- Ensure accuracy and quality control for online ordering and catering operations; coordinate timely plating, packaging, and delivery.- Monitor kitchen inventory, source specialty Thai and Japanese ingredients, and maintain proper storage and waste management.- Enforce health, hygiene, and food safety standards consistent with local and federal regulations.- Collaborate with management on seasonal menu updates and development of new Thai and Japanese offerings.- Assist the Head Chef in scheduling, staff management, and ensuring smooth daily operations.- Ability to Multitask and manage and operate in house, online and catering orders. Required Skills & Experience:- Proven ability to prepare authentic Thai curries, sauces, and regional dishes using traditional herbs, spices, and cooking methods.- Expertise in Japanese style sushi preparation, including rice seasoning, fish filleting, nigiri, maki, sashimi, and poke bowl assembly.- Strong knife skills and knowledge of seafood handling and preservation.- Ability to manage a multicultural kitchen team and train staff in both Thai and Japanese culinary techniques.- Experience working in a high-volume restaurant setting with dine-in, take-out, and catering operations.- 2 (two) years of demonstrated experience, ability to speak English (Thai is acceptable but not mandatory).About Us:Located at North Market in Columbus, Ohio,u00a0Nida's Sushiu00a0offers a vibrant fusion of authentic Thai and Japanese cuisines.
