The position is responsible foradvancing student success through individualized academic advising,personal counseling, mentoring, and developmental programming forincome-eligible, first-generation, and/or underrepresented studentsserved by Marquette University's Educational Opportunity Program (EOP). The role works directly with students in multiple settingsincludingschools, homes, families, community spaces, and on campusto supportpersistence through high school, successful college admission, anddegree completion. The position supports students across the fulleducational pipeline by fostering strong mentoring relationships,empowering families, coordinating alumni engagement and trackingefforts, and connecting students to a network of support that extendsbeyond enrollment. This position plays a key role in building andsustaining mentorship pathways between current students, alumni,families, and campus partners to promote long-term success, belonging,and educational attainment. Evening, weekend, and summer availability isan essential component of this role in order to meet students andfamilies where they are. Duties and Responsibilities Provide individualacademic, personal, and career counseling to assigned students. Workdirectly with students in schools, homes, community settings, and oncampus to support academic progress, persistence, and postsecondaryreadiness. Engage families and guardians as partners in the student'seducational journey through communication, meetings, and outreach.Monitor and assess individual student academic progress, engagement, andpersistence in high school and college-preparatory coursework. Meetregularly with assigned students to establish challenging academic andpersonal goals and develop educational plans aligned with high schoolcompletion, college admission, and degree attainment. Assist studentswith college planning processes, including college selection,applications, essays, financial aid awareness, and letters ofrecommendation. Provide proactive follow-up and intervention for students experiencing academic, personal, or social barriers that mayimpact retention or performance. Refer students and families toappropriate campus and community resources to support holistic studentsuccess. Maintain accurate documentation, service notes, and studentevaluations within EOP data and tracking systems. Facilitate and supportPre-College and College Access initiatives, including Upward Boundstyleprogramming, summer bridge programs, and academic-year services. Serveas a liaison with secondary schools, Marquette University offices,academic departments, families, and community partners. Supportrecruitment, outreach, interviewing, and selection of programparticipants. Plan, facilitate, and deliver workshops related topersonal development, leadership development, college readiness,academic skill-building, and career exploration. Assist with training,supervision, and coordination of peer mentors, tutors, and studentsupport staff. Monitor and coordinate tutoring and supplemental academicsupport services. Assist in the development and implementation ofculturally responsive enrichment, college exposure, and engagementprogramming. Support alumni engagement and mentorship efforts, includingmaintaining alumni contact, tracking outcomes, and facilitatingmentorship connections between current students and alumni. Collaboratewith colleagues to strengthen mentoring structures that promotebelonging, persistence, and long-term student success. Assist withstipend requests, distribution, and reconciliation in compliance withprogram and University guidelines. Maintain availability for evening,weekend, and summer programming, events, family meetings, and studentsupport activities as required. Perform other duties andresponsibilities as required, assigned, or requested in support of EOPand Marquette University's mission. Required Knowledge, Skills andAbilities Bachelor's degree in a related field Two or more years ofexperience in counseling and direct service delivery to income eligible,first-generation, disabled, and/or underrepresented students, or withcommunity groups that address issues affecting income eligible andminority student populations.
