Utah State University invites nominations and applications for the position of Associate Vice President (AVP) of Utah State University Moab. Located in Moab, Utah, USU Moab is part of the statewide system of Utah State University and delivers certificate, associate, bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees in a region known for innovation, entrepreneurship, and natural resource stewardship.The Associate Vice President reports to the Deputy Vice President for Statewide Residential Campuses and serves on the Statewide Campus Administrative Council. This is a senior leadership position responsible for advancing enrollment growth, strengthening workforce alignment, and expanding community partnerships across Grand County and the surrounding region.USU Moab is positioned to serve as a catalyst for economic vitality in southeastern Utah. The next AVP will lead with a clear focus on:Sustainable enrollment growthAcademic programming aligned with regional workforce needsStrong collaboration with school districts, local governments, community leaders, and industry partnersThe successful candidate will bring executive-level leadership experience and a record of driving measurable results. The AVP must understand how to grow programs strategically, build community trust, and align academic offerings with regional opportunity. This leader will represent the campus effectively within the broader university system while advocating for the unique needs of a comprehensive regional campus.The Associate Vice President will:Develop and execute a strategic plan focused on enrollment, access, and regional impactStrengthen recruitment, concurrent enrollment, and transfer pathwaysExpand workforce certificates, applied programs, and community-based learning opportunitiesAdvance teaching, research, and student-centered support servicesCultivate alumni, donor, and legislative relationshipsSecure external funding and philanthropic supportFoster a campus culture grounded in collaboration, accountability, and student successStrong communication skills, sound fiscal management, and the ability to inspire confidence across constituencies are essential.The ideal candidate will value collaboration, demonstrate cultural awareness, and show a clear commitment to Utah State University's land-grant mission.The position is available June 1, 2026, or at a mutually agreed-upon date. Review of applications will begin March 2026 and continue until the position is filled.Provide executive leadership for USU MoabDevelop and implement a strategic vision centered on enrollment growth and regional vitalityAlign academic programs with workforce and community needsBuild and sustain strong partnerships with local governments, school districts, local employers, and community organizationsRepresent and advocate for USU Moab within the broader university systemOversee campus budgets, personnel, and operationsSupport advancement and fundraising effortsSupport innovative instructional delivery, including hybrid and distance educationPromote student success, retention, and completionCollaborate closely with fellow Associate Vice Presidents across the statewide systemMinimum QualificationsEarned bachelor’s degree plus 11 years of related work experience with at least 7 of the years in leadership role OR an equivalent combination of education and experienceAt least five years of experience in Student Life or Student Affairs as part of the experience listed aboveRecord of executive leadership in higher education or a comparable environmentDemonstrated commitment to excellence in undergraduate and graduate educationExperience driving enrollment growth, program expansion, or strategic initiativesDemonstrated fiscal and personnel management experienceStrong communication and stakeholder engagement skillsExperience building collaborative partnerships across sectorsCommitment to inclusive excellence and equal opportunityAppreciation for and commitment to the land-grant missionPreferred QualificationsExperience leading a regional or comprehensive campusDemonstrated success securing grants, contracts, or philanthropic supportExperience working in a gateway communityExperience serving non-traditional and rural student populationsFamiliarity with workforce-aligned academic programmingAlong with the online application, please attach:1.
