This job was posted by : For more information, please see: CITY OF DOVER Part-Time Parks & Maintenance Worker P a g e | 1 Department: Public Works / Parks Status: Part-Time Seasonal (25-30 hours per week April October) Pay Grade: $17.00 - $21.00/hourly (DOE) POSITION SUMMARY The City of Dover is seeking a dependable and mo.vated part-.me Parks & Maintenance Worker to assist with construc.on, maintenance, repair, and upkeep of City parks, pathways, facili.es, vehicles, equipment, and buildings. This posi.on performs a wide range of hands-on maintenance and groundskeeping tasks under the direc.on of the Maintenance Supervisor or designated department head. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who manages their .me well, takes ini.a.ve, and completes assigned work with minimal direct supervision while mee.ng established standards for safety, quality, and efficiency. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (Representa ve, not all-inclusive) Maintain City-owned parks, pathways, and proper.es, including mowing, trimming, irriga.on support, trash removal, and general upkeep Assist with maintenance and cleaning of public restrooms, shelters, and City facili.es Perform seasonal work including snow removal, sanding, sal.ng, and plowing of walkways, parking areas, and municipal proper.es Operate hand tools, power tools, and motorized equipment including mowers, trimmers, chain saws, and related equipment Assist with basic carpentry, masonry, pain.ng, and general facility repairs Operate City vehicles and equipment safely and responsibly Check culverts, shoulders, drainage areas, and waterways for issues and report findings Assist with tree trimming, brush removal, right-of-way clearing, and debris hauling Support setup and takedown for City events and seasonal ac.vi.es Respond professionally to ques.ons from the public and assist during emergency or weather-related events as needed Follow all City safety policies, procedures, and opera.onal standards Perform other related du.es as assigned CITY OF DOVER Part-Time Parks & Maintenance Worker P a g e | 2 IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE The successful candidate will be: Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious Comfortable working independently and managing daily tasks without constant supervision Willing to learn new skills and take direc.on Able to work outdoors in all weather condi.ons Capable of performing physical labor, including li9ing up to 50 pounds Prior experience in maintenance, construc.on, landscaping, or parks opera.ons is helpful but not required. Training will be provided. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or equivalent preferred Valid drivers license Ability to follow wri>en and oral instruc.ons Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings, weekends, or on-call situa.ons Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Work is performed primarily outdoors and may involve uneven terrain, inclement weather, and exposure to equipment noise and materials Requires standing, walking, bending, li9ing, reaching, and use of hand and power tools Ability to see, hear, and communicate effec.vely to perform assigned du.es safely EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS This posi.on is at-will and subject to modifica.on based on City needs.
