Amazon Web Services is hiring a Senior Product Design Electrical Engineer to support mechanical product development for our Mechanical Products and Services team. The Mechanical Products and Services Team is a AWS's Data Center Engineering global engineering team, responsible for the design and continuous innovation for products used within our rapidly expanding data center footprint. As a product engineer at Amazon, you will be working with other internal groups as well as external groups including engineering service providers, manufacturers, vendors, inspectors, third party testing labs and contractors. Amazon has a global presence. Travel will be necessary but shouldnu2019t be more than 30%. International support will be part of the job, and some international travel may be necessary. Your contribution could consist of leading international projects and could require developing engineering information packages. An understanding of international electrical product design requirements is helpful but not necessary. Key job responsibilities Work with internal partner teams to solicit customer input and define design requirements for product design. u2022 Lead electrical new product design, development and qualification of critical mechanical cooling products for AWS datacenters with primary focus on Coolant Distribution Units (CDUs) and External Heat Rejection (EHR) technologies. u2022 Develop Capex and Opex spending budgets taking into account development costs with vendors, prototyping needs, testing and specialized tooling requirements. u2022 Work with global suppliers and manufacturers to specify appropriate electrical equipment and components, ensuring tier 2-3 supply chain resiliency. u2022 Ensure compliance with UL, CSA, IEC and federal, state and municipal requirements and building codes across different countries through appropriate levels of testing. u2022 Validate design through prototype, pre-production and first-of-kind builds, conducting DFx and value engineering analysis through each step and updating design and documentation. u2022 Work with field engineering and commissioning teams to properly test and validate installation, operation, and performance of electrical products. u2022 Ability to provide support for manufacturing activities for the new products on concurrent projects in multiple geographical locations. u2022 Be a leader within the product development team as well as within internal and external teams that support the data center. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
