Description We are looking for a skilled Staff Accountant to join our team on a contract basis. In this role, you will oversee financial activities, ensuring compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and grant requirements. Based in Youngstown, Ohio, this position offers an opportunity to contribute to the organizationu2019s mission by maintaining precise financial records and preparing detailed reports. Responsibilities: u2022 Maintain the general ledger and accurately record all financial transactions. u2022 Prepare financial statements and reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis for management and the board. u2022 Manage accounts payable and receivable processes efficiently. u2022 Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy. u2022 Track and report restricted and unrestricted funds following nonprofit accounting standards. u2022 Develop and monitor organizational and program budgets to maintain financial health. u2022 Handle grant accounting by tracking expenditures, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with grant requirements. u2022 Support the annual audit process by providing necessary schedules and documentation. u2022 Assist in preparing regulatory filings such as Form 990 and other tax-related documents. u2022 Collaborate with leadership and program managers to deliver financial insights and aid decision-making. Requirements u2022 Bacheloru2019s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field. u2022 At least 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in the nonprofit sector, with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail. u2022 Proficiency in fund accounting and nonprofit financial reporting standards. u2022 Experience with accounting software such as Abila MIP, Sage Intacct, or similar platforms. u2022 Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel for financial analysis and reporting. u2022 Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. u2022 Excellent organizational and communication abilities. u2022 Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
