DescriptionAmazon's Legal Devices & Services team is looking for a talented and dynamic Corporate Counsel to support product safety and other complex regulatory compliance issues for a wide array of Amazonu2019s consumer electronics products. In this role, you will serve as a subject matter expert advising product teams on how to resolve complex product safety issues, including guiding safety investigations, responding to regulatory inquiries, and assessing enforcement/recall risk. You will work closely with safety engineering teams, dive deep into failure analyses, liaise with international counsel to assess regulatory reporting requirements around the world, and guide remedial action decisions. Your work will also involve advising senior business clients on a range of strategic initiatives and legal issues throughout the product life cycle, including hardware compliance, sustainability, and other regulatory requirements. You will develop practical strategies and build processes that mitigate legal risk while enabling our first-party device teams to move efficiently and operate at scale. Some travel, domestic and international, will be required. Key job responsibilities u2022 Develop risk-based strategies to address product safety matters across a range of consumer devices, including identifying reportable events and determining safety reporting obligations in the United States and internationally u2022 Serve as compliance counsel advising on Amazon device hardware regulatory matters across multiple product lines u2022 Support new product introduction efforts from concept through launch, partnering with cross-functional teams to identify and manage legal risk u2022 Oversee FDA-regulated devices, including development of quality management systems (QMS), post-market monitoring, supplier audit oversight, and standard operating procedure review A day in the life You will work directly with product development teams to provide strategic legal advice regarding compliance initiatives, work closely with safety and compliance engineers to make high-judgment decisions relating to product safety issues, engage with international counsel to align on strategic risk issues across jurisdictions, and manage outside counsel. About the team We are a team of attorneys and compliance specialists dedicated to supporting product development, compliance, and safety for Amazon's devices, including devices made by subsidiaries such as Ring, Blink, and eero.Basic Qualifications- 5+ years of legal experience - Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalentPreferred Qualifications- Experience of a mix of corporate law firm and in-house work - Experience advising on product regulatory, sustainability, or product safety matters. - Experience advising on FDA regulatory matters - Familiarity with international product regulatory frameworks, including EU product safety directives, CE marking, and emerging global sustainability/ESG requirements - Experience managing outside counsel and coordinating with international legal teams across multiple jurisdictions - Knowledge of product sustainability regulations, including extended producer responsibility (EPR), battery regulations, or environmental compliance requirements - Strong track record of building scalable legal processes and compliance programs in a fast-paced, high-growth environment Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
