Responsibilities This position will require you to collect, analyze, and disseminate real-time intelligence using law enforcement databases, geospatial tools, and video/sensor feeds to directly support Border Patrol operations. The position conducts in-depth research and data mining to identify threats, determine immigration status, and inform tactical decision-making for frontline agents. This role strengthens CBP's ability to detect, deter, and interdict terrorists, illicit actors, and contraband, thereby directly advancing DHS and USBP's mission to secure the nation's borders and protect officer and public safety. This position starts at a salary of $50,723.00 (GS-7, Step 1) to $80,662.00 (GS-9, Step 10) with promotion potential to $80,622.00 (GS-9, Step 10). As a Law Enforcement Information Systems Specialist (LEISS), you will gather, analyze, and interpret information from multiple law enforcement systems and tools to produce clear, actionable intelligence products. You will communicate timely findings to support informed decisions during law enforcement and security operations. Typical duties will include: Analyzing tactical surveillance video and imagery in conjunction with sensor alerts and other resources to detect and identify threats and incursions entering the U.S. and relay that information to agents in real time. Conducting data mining and analyzing information by utilizing national databases to determine identity, alienage and removability of individuals in accordance with Immigration laws, rules, and regulations.
