The Heavy Equipment Operator will play a vital role in the development, maintenance, and enhancement of bike trails in a high-alpine environment. This position requires expertise in operating and maintaining heavy machinery while working collaboratively with the Director of Summer Operations, Bike Park Manager, and Bike Trail Building Crew. The ideal candidate must be adaptable to dynamic work conditions, including inclement weather, evolving trail-building priorities, and operational needs outside of the department. Additionally, the Heavy Equipment Operator will be responsible for ensuring all equipment is maintained at peak performance, supporting vehicle maintenance staff, and contributing to the overall success of the bike park and resort operations. This role requires a strong work ethic, teamwork, and the ability to problem-solve in challenging terrain. Essential Job Responsibilities: Operate and maintain heavy equipment such as but not limited to: excavators, bulldozers, skid steers, and loaders in a high-alpine environment.Assist in trail design, construction, and maintenance under the direction of the Bike Park Manager and Director of Summer Operations.Work closely with the Bike Trail Building Crew to develop and maintain world-class bike trails.Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance.Collaborate with the Vehicle Maintenance Facility team to coordinate necessary repairs and machinery servicing.Follow safety protocols and best practices to ensure a safe working environment for all team members.Adapt to changing conditions, including weather challenges and evolving trail-building priorities.Be flexible to work with operational needs outside of the department as required.Work efficiently in a team-oriented environment while also demonstrating self-motivation and problem-solving skills.Reliable attendance on all scheduled workdays.Other duties as assigned. Qualifications/Knowledge: Knowledge and Experience operating a diverse range of Heavy Equipment Machines, including but not limited to Mini x’s, Bulldozers, Loaders, etc.Minimum of 3-5 years of experience operating heavy equipment in mountainous, rocky, or steep terrain.Experience in trail-building, earth-moving, or construction preferred.Prior experience working in a professional bike park is highly preferred.Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and evenings. Work Environment: Taos Ski Valley, Inc. is often a fast-paced work environment, especially during Holidays and Peak days. TSVI is in a high-altitude alpine environment. Position may require travel on uneven, snow-packed, or icy terrain and may be exposed to wet, cold, and/or humid conditions. Must be able to work in close quarters and with other staff.
