Job Title: Controller Location: Andover, MA Job Type: Full-Time, Hybrid (3 days per week in office) Pay Range: $125,000 - $150,000 base salary plus incentive compensation Benefits: Health, Dental, 401(k), PTO, and professional development support Job Summary Adecco Permanent Recruitment is partnering with a well-established company in the engineering and professional services space to help them hire a Controller. This newly created role offers the chance to lead core accounting operations, strengthen financial processes, and improve project-level reporting in a growing, collaborative organization. Our client is seeking a hands-on accounting leader who can balance day-to-day execution with process improvement and financial insight. Key Responsibilities + Oversee daily accounting operations including general ledger activity, account reconciliations, billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, accruals, and financial statement preparation + Lead project accounting activities and provide financial visibility into project performance, budgets, and profitability + Manage cash flow planning, forecasting, audit coordination, and regulatory compliance requirements + Partner with project managers and company leadership to analyze financial results and support informed business decisions + Prepare financial reports, forecasts, and scenario analyses to support short-term and long-term planning + Coordinate with outside auditors, tax partners, banking contacts, and other external stakeholders + Improve accounting procedures, internal controls, and reporting workflows to create greater consistency and efficiency + Support strategic financial initiatives tied to long-range growth and organizational planning Qualifications and Must-Haves + Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field + 5 to 10 years of progressive accounting experience with increasing ownership and responsibility + Strong hands-on experience in accounting operations within a smaller or leaner business environment + Project accounting experience within engineering, architecture, consulting, construction, or another project-based professional services setting + Experience with financial reporting, reconciliations, month-end close, compliance, and internal controls + Proficiency with accounting systems and Excel; Deltek Ajera, Deltek Vision, or Deltek Vantagepoint strongly preferred + Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across finance, operations, and leadership teams + Improvement-oriented mindset with a proactive approach to building structure, enhancing efficiency, and increasing financial visibility Preferred + CPA or similar professional certification + Knowledge of revenue recognition in a professional services environment + Exposure to analytics tools or AI-enabled financial reporting capabilities + Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to help scale accounting processes as the business grows Pay Details: $125,000.00 to $150,000.00 per year Equal Opportunity Employer/Veterans/Disabled Military connected talent encouraged to apply To read our Candidate Privacy Information Statement, which explains how we will use your information, please navigate to The Company will consider qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records in accordance with federal, state, and local laws and/or security clearance requirements, including, as applicable: + The California Fair Chance Act + Los Angeles City Fair Chance Ordinance + Los Angeles County Fair Chance Ordinance for Employers + San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance Massachusetts Candidates Only: It is unlawful in Massachusetts to require or administer a lie detector test as a condition of employment or continued employment.
