Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations._ Responsibilities: Provides comprehensive academic advising to a dynamic and diverse population of graduate students (masteru2019s and doctoral) in the Warner School of Education and Human Development. Advises students on academic matters including program planning, degree requirements, milestone progression, institutional policies and procedures, and professional and career development. Refers students to faculty advisors, program directors, and campus offices for specialized assistance as appropriate. Manages an assigned caseload of masteru2019s and doctoral students from matriculation through degree completion. Provides holistic support related to academic planning, degree milestones, professional and career goals, institutional policies, and engagement in the academic and scholarly life of the school. Communicates regularly with students regarding academic requirements, registration, key deadlines, and opportunities for enrichment. Monitors student progress toward degree completion, supports students experiencing academic difficulty, and assists with navigation of policies related to academic standing, probation, leaves of absence, and degree completion. Colalborates closely with faculty, program leadership, and campus partners to ensure student success and persistence. Participates in ongoing training and professional development as a member of the broader graduate advising community. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Academic Planning & Advising + Provides individualized academic advising to masteru2019s and doctoral students focused on course selection, sequencing, and program planning (POS planning). Assists students in developing and maintaining academic plans aligned with degree requirements, timelines, and professional goals. (25%) + Advises students on registration processes, enrollment status, and academic options to support timely degree completion. (15%) Institutional Policies & Academic Standing Support + Advises students on institutional, school, and program policies, including academic standing, probation, leaves of absence, continuous enrollment, and degree completion requirements. + Provides targeted support to students experiencing academic difficulty and assists with navigation of academic action processes, petitions, and re-enrollment following leave. + Collaborates closely with faculty advisors, program directors, and campus partners (e.g., Registrar, Greene Center) to support student success, persistence and retention. Student Communication & Outreach + Communicates regularly with students regarding academic requirements, registration, deadlines, policies, and enrichment opportunities through individual meetings, group advising sessions, and written communications. + Conducts proactive outreach to students who may be at academic risk, disengaged, or on leave of absence with incomplete degree requirements. International Student Advising + Provides targeted advising and support for international masteru2019s and doctoral students at Warner. + Advises students on academic planning in the context of visa requirements, enrollment regulations, and degree timelines, in collaboration with the universityu2019s international services office. + Supports international students in understanding U.S. graduate academic expectations, institutional policies, and program requirements. Collaborates with undergraduate advising units, faculty, and program leadership to ensure continuity of advising and successful student outcomes + Assists students with navigating academic challenges related to cultural transition, language considerations, and educational systems. + Collaborates with faculty, program leadership, and campus partners to promote academic success, retention, and timely degree completion for international graduate students. Collaboration & Professional Development + Collaborates closely with faculty advisors, program directors, and campus partners to support student success and persistence. + Participates in advising-related committees, orientations, and student success initiatives. + Engages in ongoing training and professional development to remain current with best practices, policies, and emerging trends in graduate education. Other duties as assigned MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE + Bacheloru2019s degree required + Masteru2019s degree preferred (particularly in education, counseling, higher education, or a related field) + 1 year of relevant experience required + Experience in higher education, graduate education, or a closely related field preferred + Or equivalent combination of education and experience required KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES + Strong cross-cultural communication skills and experience working with students from historically underrepresented and underserved communities required. + Excellent organizational and time-management skills required. + Strong problem-solving abilities and a demonstrated passion for coaching, advocating for, and supporting graduate students in achieving their academic and professional goals required. + Excellent interpersonal and critical thinking skills required. + Commitment to student-centered advising practices required. + Demonstrated ability to understand the needs of students from a wide range of backgrounds required.
