Position Summary: The On-Call Russian Ukrainian Interpreter supports the Family Engagement team by providing accurate and respectful interpretation and translation for families who do not speak English as their primary language. This role ensures clear communication between staff and families across a variety of settings. Responsibilities include on-site interpretation for parent-teacher conferences, home visits, and family events, as well as occasional remote translation of written materials. The ideal candidate is dependable, responsive, and committed to helping families feel heard, understood, and supported. Compensation & Schedule: On-call Interpreters enjoy flexible scheduling while playing a vital role in keeping EOCF programs running smoothly. Availability is needed Monday through Friday during daytime hours, and occasionally in the evenings for events. H ourly rate of $22.40 for basic interpretation services, and $24.51 when providing document translation. Key Responsibilities: Interpret conversations accurately and impartially, maintaining meaning and tone as closely to exact communication as possible. Translate written documents into Russian and/or Ukrainian for distribution to families. Support interpretation needs for staff-related activities, including interviews and onboarding, as requested. Coordinate availability and respond to interpretation requests in a timely manner. Arrive promptly and prepared for all scheduled interpretation assignments. Collaborate with various positions across the agency. Required Education: High School Diploma or equivalent Preferred Experience: One year of paid interpreter experience, preferably within a human or social services setting. Fluency in English and Either Russian and/or Ukrainian, both verbal and written. Ability to: Accurately interpret spoken communication in real time with a high level of clarity and detail Strong written translation skills with attention to tone and meaning Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage an on-call, flexible schedule Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality in sensitive situations. Comfortable working in a variety of settings, including family homes and community events. Use the team approach to resolving problems or conflicts Receive information and feedback in an understanding manner. Attend appropriate staff meetings as assigned.
