POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE New York University Tandon School of Engineering The Hydrologic Systems Group within the Center for Connected Cities for Smart Mobility towards Accessible and Resilient Transportation (C2SMART) at NYU Tandon School of Engineering is seeking to hire a Post Doctoral Associate to conduct research in large-scale flood risk analysis. The C2SMART Center works on research related to urban mobility, reducing congestion, and transportation technologies. Responsibilities The successful candidate will have an opportunity to contribute to design and operational decisions related to New York State's culvert infrastructure, which serves thousands of small, mostly headwater, catchments over an area of ~141,000 square kilometers. The postdoc is expected to contribute to the project deliverables, while working collaboratively in a team of PhD and postdoctoral researchers. The postdoctoral associate will be expected to: + Conduct statistical and computational analysis + Contribute to proposal writing + Complete project tasks by assigned deadlines + Prepare and publish in peer-reviewed journals + Present at conferences + Submit computational tasks to NYUu2019s High Performance Computing (HPC) resources + Collaborate in a team setting + Coordinate and participate in regular and adhoc meetings with partners and agency sponsors + Collaborate with the computational team working on this project, which consists of two PhD researchers and one postdoctoral researcher + Mentor students Previous experience on High Performance Computing is desired. The preferred candidate will possess one or all of the following; strong computational and statistical skills, excellent publication record and ability to work collaboratively in teams. Salary range In compliance with NYCu2019s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary for this position is $65,000-$70,000 depending on the candidateu2019s experience and qualification.This position is supported by a project at NYU's C2SMART Center and is initially available for one year, with the possibility of extension contingent on performance and the availability of funding. Candidates should have a PhD in Civil Engineering or a related field, and a demonstrated background in scalable flood inundation modeling, Impact-based flood forecasting stormwater infrastructure design under uncertainty.
