Education Specialist ANNOUNCEMENT OF PROFESSIONAL VACANCY Applications are invited for consideration to the following position Department: Medicine / STAR Program Budget Title: Education Specialist Salary Range: (Based Upon Experience)$65,000.00 - $70,000.00 Descriptive Title:Education Specialist Full-time, Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm, some evenings and weekends, 37.5 hours per week. Vacancy 26-10 Description of Duties: This is a grant funded position. -Recruit and retain students for the Personal Responsibility Education Program (PREP). Provide supervision and leadership to the peer leaders at community trainings, health fairs, conferences, and evidence based workshops. Maintain monthly workshop calendar, book community presentations, and schedule health fair information tables at NYC public schools. -Conduct EBIs including Making Proud Choices and Be Proud Be Responsible In community settings. -Work with community programs to ensure PREP is fostering positive linkages in Brooklyn. Attend community meetings, workshops and conferences to promote program services. Recruit and retain sites to offer evidence based programming. -Provide individual guidance sessions for PREP Peer Leaders to foster positive development toward their sexual health decisions, personal and academic goals. Guide the peers in developing healthy relationships with their families, peers and school authorities. -Work with the Director to ensure that all training materials are current and up to date. Provide training on adolescent pregnancy prevention, HIV prevention and youth development to parents, professionals, service providers and the community. -Plan and co-lead the Peer Training Program for new peer leaders. Work with staff to provide trainings, book speakers and act as a liaison with Classroom Services. -Organize BATES monthly meetings and yearly conference. Schedule speakers for monthly meetings, mail announcements and recruit new sponsors and members. -Conduct trainings for the PTA in NY public schools. Create Sexual Health Resource Rooms in partner high schools to provide information and resources to at-risk teens in target schools. -Coordinate the biannual report and federal report for submission to the PREP Contract Manager. Supervise data input into the ORS system for contract demographic data and service analytics. -Attend all Act for Youth Center Community Action supervisory meetings with technical assistance and PREP contract staff. -Organize and provide resources to reach vulnerable populations with community resources such as food pantries, supportive housing, and educational services; promote and provide resources to adolescents that encourage diversity equity and inclusion in service deliverables. Qualifications: REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree in community/public health, education or related field. Three years of experience in training, education or community outreach. Experience in youth development programming, sexual health, and HIV/HCV/STI and pregnancy prevention using evidence based interventions. Two years of supervisory experience, including the supervision of youth peer leaders.
