No County St Lawrence Street Address 62 Riverside Drive City Cranberry Lake State NY Zip Code 12927 Duties Description The Trades Generalist is responsible for ensuring Operations staff perform construction tasks safely and in compliance with NYS building codes, national electric codes, and OSHA and PESH safety rules. The Trades Generalist provides knowledge of these regulations, periodic inspections of buildings, infrastructure, power tools, ladders, lock out/tag out, fall protection, safety awareness training, and exposure limits which are crucial to protect the safety of employees and the public who utilize our facilities. The Trades Generalist is responsible for ensuring proper maintenance of existing buildings that are annually inspected by the Office of Fire Inspection and Control, and recreational facilities used by the public. Additionally, this person directs all maintenance and structural work at other facilities such as fishermenu2019s access sites, Wildlife Management Areas, Lands and Forests owned properties, universally accessible features, motor vehicle bridges, snowmobile bridges, foot bridges, decks, lean-tou2019s, and observation towers. May be required to perform trail work. Must obtain an unrestricted Class A CDL within 12 months of appointment. Additional duties include the seasonal opening and closing of Cranberry Lake Campground. The repair and maintenance of the sewer system, water supply system, chlorination system, and other structures. Will be required to operate and complete routine maintenance on various pieces of construction equipment. Must supervise and assign jobs for crews and oversee the work being done by contractors. The candidate must be able to obtain quotes, acquire and purchase supplies and materials for DEC facilities and campground in accordance with Department policy and procedures. Will complete daily reports and operate and transport heavy equipment. Minimum Qualifications Two years of full-time experience in maintenance or mechanical work under the supervision of a skilled tradesperson; OR completion of an appropriate two-year technical school course at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services, such as the New York State Civil Service Employees Association-Partnership (NYS CSEA-P) Applied Skilled Trades Certificate Program; or an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of appropriate technical courses at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services..Successful completion of the NYS CSEA-P Applied Skilled Trades Certificate Program includes a total of 288 hours of trade-specific classroom instruction, 45 hours of technical math course work, 45 hours of technical communications course work, and 15 hours of blueprint/schematic reading course work. It does not include 4,000 hours of on-the-job training, as required for the NYS CSEA-P Applied Skilled TradesTraineeship.Must obtain a Class A CDL within 12 months of appointment with appropriate endorsements and no airbrake restriction.
