A client of Innova Solutions is immediately hiring a Field Service Technician Position type: Fulltime - Contract role Duration: 3+ Months (Possible Extension/Hire) Location: Syracuse/Buffalo/Rochester, NY As a Field Service Technician, you will: Install, service, and troubleshoot low?voltage cabling (Cat 3-6, fiber optic) and communications systems. Configure, test, and maintain network equipment (switches, routers, firewalls, IP phones, Wi?Fi systems). Perform MAC (Move/Add/Change) requests, hardware break?fix, and preventive maintenance. Support carrier circuit testing, UPS/power restoral, and facilities?related issues. Document work orders, time/materials, and ensure compliance with company standards. Provide customer?facing support, explain technical issues clearly, and escalate when needed. Participate in project planning, resource allocation, and team coordination. Respond to emergency calls and rotating on?call schedules. The ideal candidate will have: Valid driver's license, reliable vehicle (able to carry 6 ft ladder). 5+ years of experience in data communications. Proficiency with cabling tools, cable/fiber testers, and patching processes. Knowledge of Cisco phones, switches, routers, and LAN/WAN networking basics. Familiarity with 66/110 block cross connect procedures. Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in communications closets. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills. High school diploma or equivalent. Preferred Skills & Qualifications Experience with Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook). Prior field dispatch or mobile technician experience. Hands-on experience with Wi Fi systems, roof mounted antennas, and structured cabling upgrades. Strong troubleshooting skills with network performance optimization.
