Job Description THE SELECTED CANDIDATE WILL BE OFFERED A SALARY BETWEEN $51,227.00-$59,723.00 The Administration for Childrenu2019s Services (ACS) protects and promotes the safety and well-being of children and families through child welfare and juvenile justice services and community supports. ACS manages community-based supports and foster care services, and provides subsidized child care vouchers. ACS child protection staff respond to allegations of child maltreatment. In juvenile justice, ACS oversees detention, placement and programs for youth in the community. The Office of the First Deputy Commissioner (OFDC) plays a significant role in implementing agency goals and carries out ACSu2019 mission to foster a collaborative, community-based, integrated approach to child and family safely, permanency and well-being. The First Deputy Commissioner serves as the Commissioneru2019s senior delegate and represents the Commissioner when necessary. The Office of the First Deputy Commissioner includes the Nicholas Scoppetta Childrenu2019s Center (NSCC), Office of Public-Private Partnerships, Office of Equity Strategies, Office of Child and Family Health, Faith-based Services, Parent Advocacy Council, and the Senior Advisor to the Medicaid Redesigned Unit u2013 Transitional Medicaid Unit (TMU). The Office of Equity Strategies (OES) supports work to promote equity and reduce disparity throughout the agency. It leads agency wide initiatives and serves as an in-house resource, providing technical assistance on the development and implementation of equity centered strategies. There are three programmatic units: Race Equity Strategies, LGBTQIA+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, asexual, agender, intersex) Equity Strategies, and Fatherhood Engagement. The Equity and Community Specialist will report to the Executive Director of Equity Strategies and provide expert support and assistance on informed equity practices across ACS divisions and contractors. The tasks and responsibilities of the Equity and Community Specialist will include but not limited to: - Provide and improve community services by performing liaison functions and improving communication between City agencies, community organizations and groups, and the individuals they represent. - Support communication and liaison functions with ACS programmatic divisions and ACS provider agencies. - Provide support and communication with LGBTQIA+ youth and their workers/advocates around incident reports. - Provide technical assistance to provider agencies and ACS direct service workers around engagement of LGBTQIA+ youth and families and other equity related areas including race and fatherhood. - Support the Office in planning for annual Pride activities, trainings and educational programs. - Support youth leadership council LGBTQIA+ Subcommittee, including leading recruitment efforts for new members, co-facilitates and co-creates meetings and agencies, and organizes and supervises projects and events. - Support Pride Alliance including leading recruitment efforts for new members, co-facilitates and co-creates meetings and agencies, and organizes and supervises projects and events. - Develop, update and disseminate comprehensive resource guides for direct service staff across the ACS system. - Update and facilitate LGBTQIA+ Peer Youth Training for youth and staff in Permanency group homes and juvenile justice facilities. - Provide administrative support for office. - Other duties as assigned.
