Required Education/Experience + High School Diploma/GED and 4 Years Design Work Experience or + Associate's Degree In Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering Technology and 2 Years Design Work Experience Preferred Education/Experience + Bachelor's Degree In Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering Technology and 1 Year Design Work Experience Relevant Work Experience + Selected applicants must have knowledge of electrical theory and/or mechanics of flow, and must be able to perform technical calculations, prepare and interpret technical construction drawings and specifications, and cost estimates. + Selected candidates will also demonstrate computer skills, preferably in Excel, Access, Word, AutoCAD/ Microstation or comparable programs. + Applicants will possess good verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent drafting and writing skills are required. + Technical experience in Drafting, Engineering Inspector, Field Inspector, drawing checker or field estimator is preferred. Knowledge of NYC standard water, sewer and highway specifications is also preferred. Location of job assignment is based on workload within the department (Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens and Westchester). Licenses and Certifications + Driver's License Required Physical Demands + Sit or stand to use a keyboard, mouse, and computer for the duration of the workday + Possess manual dexterity and the ability to use hands for the duration of the workday + Stand to use/operate office equipment for the duration of the workday Additional Physical Demands + The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays. + Use of personal vehicle for company business may be required. + Candidates will possess a valid driver's license. + This position requires sitting for extended periods of time, working on computers and may require driving company vehicles, conducting field walks, and some lifting.
