IT Academic Applications Director (HEO) - Learning Management Systems & Faculty Support POSITION DETAILS The Director of Learning Management Systems & Faculty Support (HEO), reporting to the Director of Media Services and Capital Projects (CSM 5), will provide strategic leadership in advancing instructional technology and digital learning across the College. The Director will oversee the Technology Resource Center (TRC) and Brightspace, the Collegeu2019s Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring that faculty, staff, and students receive high-quality training, support, and resources to enhance teaching, learning, and administrative effectiveness. RESPONSIBILITIES: u2022 Leads efforts to support academic departments in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of instructional technologies, including Brightspace and other academic applications. u2022 Oversees the administration, support, maintenance, and optimization of the Collegeu2019s Learning Management System, including system configuration, integrations, reporting, upgrades, and performance monitoring. u2022 Provide leadership and direction to the Technology Resource Center (TRC) and Learning Management System (LMS) staff, including recruitment, supervision, and professional development. u2022 Manage the implementation, administration, and ongoing optimization of Brightspace and, including user provisioning, access management, course creation, system configuration, and integrations with third-party applications. u2022 Resolve Brightspace issues and coordinate Brightspace upgrades, patches, and maintenance to ensure system stability, performance, and data integrity. u2022 Develop and maintain instructional resources, including online tutorials, multimedia guides, and technical documentation to support training and technology adoption. u2022 Collaborate with academic departments, administrative offices, and IT leadership to align technology initiatives and training programs with institutional priorities. u2022 Partner with faculty to integrate instructional technologies and Brightspace tools into curriculum and pedagogy. u2022 Lead efforts to research, evaluate, and implement emerging educational technologies and best practices in teaching and learning. u2022 Maintain expertise in the learning management system while staying current with CUNY, Hunter College, and broader higher education technology policies, platforms, and standards u2022 Provides input to University-wide instructional technology initiatives and ensures compliance with CUNY and College policies, platforms, and standards. u2022 Support team building, staff retention, and a positive organizational culture. u2022 Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned to support the Collegeu2019s mission and strategic goals. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's Degree and eight years' relevant experience required. Other Qualifications u2022 Experience administering and supporting a Learning Management System, particularly Brightspace. u2022 Experience providing training and technical support to faculty and staff on academic technologies. u2022 Experience supervising/managing professional and technical staff, including mentoring, performance management, and professional development. u2022 Experience collaborating with academic departments and administrative offices on technology initiatives. u2022 Strong problem-solving, project management, and communication skills. u2022 Familiarity with instructional technology policies and standards within large university systems such as City University of New York.
