After School Matters is reviewing applications on a rolling basis.u00a0 After School Matters is seeking committed, part-time instructors to teach Arts programs for 15-30 high school participants (15:1, instructor: teen ratio) between the ages of 14 to 20 for Summer 2026.u00a0 Join our dynamic program team as a Photography Instructor and inspire the next generation of young photographers. We areu00a0seekingu00a0a creative and passionate individual who can teach the art of photography to students, fostering their creativity and technical skills. As a Photography Instructor, you will guide students in exploring the world of photography, from the basics of camera operation tou00a0intermediateu00a0photography techniques.u00a0 We are particularly seeking instructors for ouru00a0Michael and Karyn Lutz Center (3435 N. Cicero Ave)u00a0 Program times for Summer 2026 will follow the schedule below:u00a0u00a0 June 22 u2013 August 7u00a0 Monday - Thursdayu00a0 8:30am to 12:30pm and/or 1:30pm u2013 5:30pmu00a0 Major Duties and Responsibilities:u00a0 + Exposeu00a0a diverse group ofu00a0teen participants tou00a0variousu00a0facetsu00a0of theu00a0photographyu00a0industry andu00a0portfolio building,u00a0while fostering a positive, safe, and collaborative atmosphere foru00a0all teen participants.u00a0 + Maintain knowledge of currentu00a0equipment managementu00a0trends,u00a0technologyu00a0and conceptsu00a0 + Prepare, organize, and supervise the weekly lessons onu00a0the basics of photography and theu00a0ethical and legalu00a0aspectu00a0of photography.u00a0 + Develop, plan, and implement high-quality related field trips, master classes, events,u00a0and guest visits to enhance instruction andu00a0trainingu00a0 + Provide supervision during program field trips and other youth engagementu00a0opportunitiesu00a0 + Report all problems or concerns and program updates to After School Matters Program Specialist tou00a0maintainu00a0consistent lines of communication throughout the programu00a0sessionu00a0 + Attend all planning and program dates,u00a0including:u00a0Instructor orientation, professional development workshops, meetings and other required sessionsu00a0 + Participate in the recruitment, interview, and selection process ofu00a0teen programu00a0participantsu00a0 + Manage and track program activities such as attendance, interview outcomes, enrollment, evaluation surveys, and pertinent student records in an online data tracking system (CitySpan).u00a0 + Other duties as assigned.u00a0u00a0 Supervisory Responsibilities:u00a0 + Supervise teens at an average of 15:1, instructor: teenu00a0ratiou00a0 Knowledge,u00a0Skillsu00a0and Abilities:u00a0u00a0 + Demonstrated practical knowledge ofu00a0the contentu00a0areau00a0 + Creative problem-solving skillsu00a0 + Customer serviceu00a0skills;u00a0ability to effectively communicate with a variety of stakeholders (teen participants, parents, ASM programs staff,u00a0vendors,u00a0etc.)u00a0 + Cultural competenceu00a0 Qualifications:u00a0 + Bacheloru2019s degree in relevant content area etc. is preferred; high school diploma or GEDu00a0required.u00a0 + Experience working in a field relevant to the content area isu00a0required.u00a0 + Familiarity with specific Chicago neighborhoods isu00a0required.u00a0 + Experience teaching, specifically teenagers, is highly preferred.u00a0 + Commitment to diversity and inclusion isu00a0required.u00a0 u200b Compensation:u00a0$20-27 salary/per hour, depending on applicable experience and educationu00a0 u00a0 About Us:u00a0After School Matters is a Chicago-based nonprofit organization that annually offers after-school and summer programs to nearly 19,000 Chicago high school teens to explore and develop their talents while gaining critical skills that will set them up for success in college and beyond. Thirty-five years later, now known as After School Matters, our program has engaged more than 450,000 Chicago teens and is the nationu2019s largest and most successful provider of after-school and summer programs for high school teens. No other organization offers programs to high school students at the scale and quality that we do.
