HVAC Mechanical Technician (40 hrs/wk, 260 days)MaintenanceTO APPLY:Direct Link: Page: note, employers may close jobs on the website at any time.SUMMARY DESCRIPTIONThe Mechanical Technician performs senior-level maintenance and repair work under general supervision, serving as a technical consultant to ensure equipment and systems operate safely and efficiently. Responsibilities include diagnosing and repairing equipment, conducting safety testing, maintaining inventory and records, and completing related duties. The position may require working day, swing, or graveyard shifts as needed.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESWhen assigned to Facilities Maintenance:Operations, Maintenance and Equipment Repair- Inspect boilers and HVAC systems to ensure proper operation and maintenance procedures.- Perform complex maintenance, updates, remodeling, and mechanical repairs on boilers, HVAC systems, and related equipment.- Repair and adjust electrical and pneumatic pressure control equipment; test and maintain safety switches and controls.- Repair refractories and fireboxes, including cleaning fireside and waterside of boilers.- Test and treat hot water, chilled water, steam, and other hydronic systems.- Maintain and repair ground source heat pump systems.Technical Oversight, Project Management and Compliance- Provide technical guidance and preventative maintenance training to staff- Coordinate and oversee preparation of boilers and vessels for annual inspection and certification- Ensure compliance with State, local, District, and regulatory agency requirements- Manage large HVAC maintenance projects- Assist with energy analysis studies- Identify and prioritize equipment repair and replacement needs- Review plans for new schools and major projects; assist in developing construction standardsDocumentation, Inventory and Regulatory Remediation- Estimate time and material costs for vendor and contractor repairs.- Maintain accurate logs and records of testing, preventative maintenance, and major repairs.- Manage inventory of supplies, equipment, and parts.- Complete material disturbance permits in compliance with policy.- Perform AHERA Class III asbestos disturbances as required.- Perform OSHA-compliant lead remediation as required.- Perform mold remediation in accordance with regulations.- May perform other duties as assigned.When Assigned to Nutrition Services:Operations, Maintenance and Equipment Repair- Inspect commercial kitchen equipment and refrigeration systems for proper operation.- Perform complex maintenance, remodeling, and mechanical repairs on refrigeration racks, dishwashers, and related kitchen equipment.- Repair and adjust refrigeration and heating set points.- Test and maintain safety switches and controls.- Delime dishwashers.- Clean and sanitize ice machines.- Clean condenser coils on refrigeration equipment.- Service and rebuild wrapping machines.Technical Oversight, Project Management and ComplianceProvide technical guidance and preventative maintenance training to Custodians, Maintenance Technicians, and Kitchen Managers.Coordinate and oversee servicing of refrigeration racks, dishwashers, and ice machines.Ensure compliance with State, local, District, and Health Department policies.Manage large kitchen maintenance projects.Assist with energy anal
