A Reconditioning Technician operates various hand tools and machinery as part of the production process to reconditioning Bearings, Wheelsets, Axles and Wheels components according to AAR and customer requirements. Job Title: Assembly/Machine Operator City: Kansas City Key Job Elements: u2022 Perform all duties and responsibilities in compliance with Progress Rail safety and quality policies; u2022 Safely operate multiple machines and Qualify on Workstations; u2022 Monitor work to ensure compliance with internal and external requirements; u2022 Demonstrate proper PM inspection of the assigned machinery; u2022 Duties include dissemble, wash, inspect, repair, or assemble bearings and/or components related to rail services i.e. wheelsets, axles etc.; u2022 Works with new and used railroad bearings, new and used axles, new and used wheels; u2022 Operates lathes, grinders, presses, and other machines as assigned; u2022 Demonstrate the ability to use related tools and measuring devices and maintain Quality Standards; u2022 Demonstrate the ability to use specialized tools in metric or standard units; u2022 Demonstrate the ability to maintain the required inspection data records for workstation; u2022 Must work independently with little / no supervisory oversight; u2022 May operate overhead cranes and forklifts as needed. Qualifications and Experience: u2022 Prefer 3-6 months experience as machine operator, will consider equivalent school/ training; u2022 Must be able to perform quality inspections; u2022 Read precision instruments and gauges; u2022 Capable use of hand tools; u2022 Work around overhead cranes and mobile equipment; u2022 Work as an effective team member; u2022 Working safely is a condition of employment.
