Job Description

The Process Control Specialist is responsible for providing process control leadership in support of the reliable operation and continuous improvement at the Bishop Plant. This role is responsible for providing reliable DCS operation in the areas of hardware and software support, including upgrades, backups, and performance tracking. This role works alongside other Process Control resources to provide daily control system troubleshooting, optimization, and improvement for the production units.Primary FunctionsPoint of contact for day-to-day controls optimization and improvementProvide support and assistance for plant DCS systems as needed to support operationsSupport capital and expense projects, as needed, for plant improvements including design and implementationSupport engineers, operations and maintenance technicians in troubleshooting production unit issuesTroubleshoot and repair hardware, software, and process control issuesSchedule and complete software backups and PM’s, as needed, including ensuring that system backup files are kept in compliance with plant guidelinesAssist in the development of operating procedures and Operations trainingRequired QualificationsBachelor of Science Engineering Degree (Electrical, Electronic, Computer Science or Chemical desired) from an accredited university, OR 3 years Honeywell TDC-3000 or Experion Control systems experience equivalentAt least 5 years working in a manufacturing plant environmentStrong analytical & troubleshooting skills, with demonstrated ability to identify and resolve issues through monitoring of performance trendsKnowledge of DCS hardware and software support, including upgrades, backups, performance tracking, and administration and securityAbility to train Operations staff in system, to achieve effective utilization of the DCSMaintain an on-call schedule with Process Control peers to provide after-hours troubleshooting support as neededPreferred Knowledge / Skills / ExperienceExcellent verbal and written communications skills with the ability to communicate effectively to all levels of an organizationHigh level of ownership and initiativeExperience working on instrumentation and control systems common to manufacturing industry (flow meters, pressure indicators, control valves)Experience in identification and troubleshooting of instrumentation, DCS, and interface malfunctionsExperience in troubleshooting and repairing computer or control system hardwareAbility to read and understand basic logic and loop diagramsFamiliarity with manufacturing operations (chemical, refining, etc.) and associated safe work practicesKnowledge in management of change work processes
