If you aspire to be the best, and work with the best, this is where you belong.The Accounting Manager is an integral part of Latham’s Office Accountingteam.This role will be responsible for supporting the office by using their understanding and experience of generally accepted accounting principles and the policy of a law office to contribute to the strategic planning and implementation of the goals and objectives of the Department and Finance Committee, while overseeing end to end billing process in the office(s), including billing and collection efforts. This role will be located in our Bostonoffice. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence.Other key responsibilities include:Acting as a subject matter expert to billing attorneys, senior office and department leadership, and the Finance CommitteeCoordinating with the Global Billing team to implement and administer firmwide billing and inventory management best practices and proceduresManaging and developing accounting staff, organizing and coordinating their work to meet department objectives timely and accuratelyProviding interpretation, guidance, training, and assistance on billing and accounting strategies, including financial metrics, rate structure analysis, Alternative Fee Arrangement initiatives, including matter budgets and fixed fee arrangementsPromoting the “Gold Standard” process for pro-active inventory management, managing billing completion percentages to ensure timely billing of inventory, monitoring reports, ensuring monthly inventory meetings take place with billing attorneys and overseeing the delivery of collection support and account receivable follow up alongside the Senior Manager of CollectionsProtecting and maintaining any highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retainsWe’d love to hear from you if you:Possess the ability to develop thorough knowledge and understanding of the firm’s financial systemsDemonstrate well-developed and professional interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the firmExhibit the ability to work in a team environment with a customer service focusAnd have:A bachelor's degree in Accounting, or related fieldPreferably a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Master of Business Administration (MBA)A minimum of eight (8) years of increasingly complex Accounting experienceA minimum of six (6) years of experience in an Accounting management capacityA minimum of four (4) years of experience in general accounting practices Successful candidates will not only be provided with an outstanding career opportunity and welcoming environment, but will also be provided with a generous total compensation package with bonuses awarded in recognition of both individual and firm performance.
