The Idaho Transportation Department is hiring a Transportation Technician Senior for our District 4, Shoshone or Twin Falls, ID. These are entry-level positions, the first step in the Transportation Technician Engineering Career Path series. The successful candidates will be self-starters, enthusiastic learners, and constructive team members. The Transportation Technician Senior Horizontal Career Path consists of 3 steps. Wages increase after the successful completion of each step in the career path as outlined below: Note: Candidates with 5 years of relevant and equivalent documented experience of at least 5 years may be eligible to start at Step One. + Starting wage: $26.43 + Completion of Step One: $27.82 + Completion of Step Two: $30.44 + Completion of Step Three: $33.43 Example of Duties + Good knowledge of CADD - Modeling, computer aided Drafting + Assess contractor activities including inspection, proper installation sequencing, schedule compliance, and contract requirements + Inspect, observe, and ensure a construction project is constructed in accordance with contract plans and specifications + Maintain accurate daily record of the work (labor, equipment, materials, quantities) + Coordinate, perform, and/or supervise technical engineering work in the field, or office + Compute, check, and verify quantities, materials, costs, and final contractor payments + Assist licensed engineers in developing and designing highway construction projects + Review and draft construction plans under the supervision of a licensed engineer MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Licensure: + Valid driver’s license Good knowledge of: + Computer systems and applications used in engineering/construction and maintenance Experience: + Using engineering plans, specifications, maps, charts and/or GIS data + Providing direction and training on highway maintenance or construction inspection to others + Identifying and organizing appropriate materials and equipment for maintenance or construction projects. MQ SPECIALTIES (some positions require) Some knowledge of: + Bridge design, roadway design, or traffic design + Traffic service maintenance experience + CDL class A license with air brake, hazardous materials, and/or tanker endorsements + Sampler/testing qualification such as WAQTC Good knowledge of: + Personal computer use, including hardware and software applications Experience: + Establishing and identifying roadway and roadside elements, interpreting road maps, and matching points on map with Geographical Information Systems (GIS), to establish location To learn more about the department, please visit the ITD website (.
