Job Description We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to be the first engineering hire on a growing technology team that will scale over the next year. This role is ideal for a seasoned backend-focused software engineer with strong Python experience who enjoys building core services, infrastructure components, and data pipelines from the ground up. You will work closely with the current engineering lead, who is temporarily covering all aspects of system design and implementation, and play a key role in establishing backend foundations, engineering standards, and delivery patterns. While client-facing interaction is part of the role, the primary focus is backend systems and services. Key Responsibilities Backend Services & Systems (Primary Focus) u2022u2003Design, build, and maintain Python-based backend services, APIs, and internal platforms that support client and product use cases. u2022u2003Develop scalable, reliable web services and supporting infrastructure components. u2022u2003Contribute to system design, service orchestration, and backend architecture decisions as the platform evolves. Data Pipelines & Infrastructure u2022u2003Build and maintain data pipelines and backend workflows that support analytics, reporting, and operational use cases. u2022u2003Ensure data systems are robust, maintainable, and production-ready. u2022u2003Collaborate on infrastructure-related components such as service configuration, deployment patterns, and operational tooling. Client-Facing Engineering Support u2022u2003Participate in select client-facing engagements to understand requirements, support onboarding, and explain technical solutions. u2022u2003Work with internal stakeholders to translate business needs into backend technical implementations. u2022u2003Travel up to 25% for client meetings, discovery sessions, and key delivery milestones.
