Job Description Under supervision, with latitude for independent or unreviewed action or decision: Performs computations of ordinary difficulty and responsibility related to financial records. Performs computations and post or compiles financial data as directed for accounting purposes, or for calculating balances, or refunds. Posts to general ledgers and journals. Balances or adjusts accounts. Prepares purchase orders, statements or bills. Process cash receipts and performs bank reconciliation. Keeps records and makes reports as required. Assist in examining invoices, claims, vouchers, payrolls, fee collection reports or applications for allowances, transfers and refunds and verifies their accuracy by consulting supporting financial records and data. May deal with petty cash or imprest funds. May prepare required forms to enter data into a computerized system. May utilize manual and automated office systems. Maintains records of appropriations, allocations, authorizations and payments. Receives remittances and makes accurate disbursements and issues appropriate receipts. Sets up and maintains codes for funds and reserves. Allocates costs and charges. Classifies receipts and expenditures. BOOKKEEPER - 40526 Qualifications (1) Completion of 30 semester credits from an accredited college or university, accredited by regional, national, professional or specialized agencies recognized as accrediting bodies by the U.S. Secretary of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), including 6 credits in accounting; or (2) A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a Stateu2019s Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization, and two years of satisfactory full-time bookkeeping experience; or (3) A satisfactory combination of education and/or experience equivalent to
