JOB SUMMARY Responsible for developing, coordinating, and maintaining production and material plans that support customer demand and operational efficiency. This role ensures accurate release of work packets, timely processing of purchasing requisitions, effective capacity loading, and proactive shortage management using SAP planning tools. The Planner works cross-functionally with Production, Purchasing, Customer Service, and Warehouse teams to align materials, schedules, and priorities, ensuring on-time delivery and optimized resource utilization PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Production Packet Planning & Release + Plan and release production packets according to the production schedule and demand priorities. + Ensure all released packets contain correct BOMs, routings, and quantities. 2. Purchasing Requisition Management + Release purchasing requisitions to ensure timely procurement of components and raw materials. + Coordinate with the Purchasing team regarding lead times, supplier issues, and material availability. 3. Production Packet Re-Scheduling + Review and adjust production packets based on material readiness, capacity constraints, and shifting customer requirements. + Communicate schedule changes to Production and other stakeholders. 4. Shortage Analysis & Resolution + Run and analyze material shortage reports to proactively identify risks to production. + Work with Material Handling, Purchasing and Quality team to resolve shortages and maintain material readiness. 5. Work Center Capacity Management + Perform work center capacity review and optimization, including level loading and load-balancing across available resources. + Prioritize work orders based on capacity, material readiness, and customer delivery priorities. + Provide recommendations when capacity constraints require escalation or adjustment to the production plan. 6. Sales Order Review & Gating Item Notes + Coordinate with Master Scheduler and Production teams when assigned commodity gating items affect delivery commitments. + Ensure all necessary Gating Item notes are clearly recorded and communicated in the Sales Order. 7. Cross-Functional Coordination + Collaborate with Production Leads, Material Handlers, Buyers, and Master Scheduler to align planning activities with operational needs. + Participate in daily or weekly planning meetings to provide updates on material readiness, schedule changes, and capacity constraints. 8. Data Accuracy & Continuous Improvement + Maintain system accuracy for planned orders, routing data, lead times, and capacity settings. + Identify opportunities to improve planning processes, reduce shortages, and enhance scheduling efficiency. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES + Ability to read blueprints and inspect mechanical parts using hand inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, height gages, bore gages, etc.). + Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from internal personnel + Good problem-solving skills with the ability to develop alternative solutions. + Ability to relay technical information to technical and non-technical audiences. + Ability to navigate within an ERP system (EPICOR) + Software applications proficiency. + Ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE + Experience in production planning, materials management, or supply chain operations. + Strong working knowledge of SAP PP and MM module, or in other equivalent ERP system and functions. + Excellent analytical and organizational skills. + Ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. + Strong communication skills to collaborate across departments.
