The incumbent will work under the general direction of an Investigative Specialist 4 and will supervise and direct Investigative Specialist 1s. Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:u2022 Supervise and direct Investigative Specialist 1s in the investigation of allegations of violations ofu2022 statutes, rules or regulations by licensed professionals, unlawful practice of a profession by an unlicensed person, the moral character of a person seeking licensure or the background of formerly licensed professionals who are seeking reinstatement of their professional license;u2022 Assign cases and assist in the development of an overall plan for the conduct of investigations;u2022 Evaluate information gathered in all phases of investigations to determine the scope or direction of theu2022 Investigation;u2022 Make recommendations to the Investigative Specialist 4 (Professional Conduct) relative to case dispositions; andu2022 Ensure the accuracy and timely submission of required reports and administrative tasks as assigned. Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Reassignment: Candidates must have one year of permanent non-competitive service as an Investigative Specialist 2 (Professional Conduct).Non-competitive Appointment: u2022 Either: One year of permanent non-competitive service as an Investigative Specialist 1; u2022 Or 2. Seven years of experience in conducting field investigations or investigations of medical misconduct preliminary to civil litigation or criminal prosecution. This experience must include conducting interviews of witnesses and others; preparing detailed reports of investigative findings; and testifying at administrative or criminal proceedings. One year of the experience must have been at a supervisory level.SUBSTITUTION: An Associate's degree in Criminal Justice or related field may be substituted for two years of qualifying experience. A Bacheloru2019s degree in Criminal Justice or a related field may substitute for four years of qualifying experience. Related fields include law enforcement, police science, criminal justice administration, criminology, criminal investigation, police studies, public justice, forensic accounting, forensic psychology, forensic science, and economic crime management.
