Job Description

Description One of TEKsystems' clients, a global company with US Headquarters in Huntsville, AL is looking for a Sr. Network Engineer to join their team. The client has an IT infrastructure team that includes helpdesk and systems admins, but this candidate will immediately be at the highest level of network engineering experience for the organization. The job description is below....but several of the primary challenges that this candidate will need to manage is integrations with companies that are being acquired, minimizing downtime with a move to a new data center, retiring some legacy systems (Adtran and ASA) to Fortinet and Meraki (with the goal of being 100% Meraki by end of year). The candidate will need to be responsible for assessing the current state of the overall network and help redesign a better functioning network. Additionally, the engineer will need to have some experience as a systems/server administrator as well. Top Skills Details: 1 Hands-on experience with Meraki configurations (will be migrating legacy hardware to Meraki) 2 Comfortable working independently as Sr level network resource 3 Server administration 4 Merger and acquisition and data center rexperience Responsibilities: u2022 Architect and administer branch networks, VLANs, Auto VPN, SD WAN, traffic shaping, and site reliability via the Meraki Dashboard. Includes creating new Meraki networks and standardizing acquired sites by migrating from other technologies (e.g., Fortinet or Sophos) to Meraki. u2022 Manage firewall policy, NAT, remote access (AnyConnect), IPsec, and SSL VPN, and high availability pairs using Cisco ASA; harden perimeter and inter-site connectivity. u2022 Build and maintain security policies, SD WAN, IPsec tunnels, SSL VPN, high availability clusters, and segmentation for branch and datacenter networks u2022 Oversee Layer 3 routing (OSPF and BGP basics), DHCP and DNS integration, NAC, RADIUS, and TACACS, where applicable, and network observability using SNMP, syslog, and NetFlow. u2022 Deploy and maintain Windows Failover Clusters, Cluster Shared Volumes, Live Migration, and Hyper-V Replica; perform capacity planning, performance tuning, and lifecycle management. u2022 Administer Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and certificate services; automate at scale with PowerShell. u2022 Support and secure Exchange Online, Microsoft 365 workloads, and cloud environments for reliable end-user access. u2022 Implement and test backup, replication, and disaster recovery solutions (for example, Rubrik and Azure Site Recovery); document runbooks, define RPO and RTO, and lead regular disaster recovery exercises. u2022 Apply patching, endpoint protection, access controls, and logging; participate in audits and reporting alongside the Security team. u2022 Use monitoring and alerting, and performance analysis tools to ensure uptime and capacity; drive root cause analysis and preventive improvements. u2022 Operate independently with minimal supervision; own network engineering work end-to-end from design and implementation through validation and documentation. u2022 Maintain thorough documentation and change records; provide Tier 2 and 3 escalation, and occasional after-hours during maintenance windows. Qualifications: u2022 5+ years supporting enterprise infrastructure across hybrid or on-premises environments. u2022 Strong hands-on experience with Meraki, Cisco ASA, and Fortinet FortiGate (policy design, VPN, high availability, segmentation, and troubleshooting). u2022 Proficiency with Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, and PowerShell automation. u2022 Expertise with Hyper V (clusters, performance, lifecycle) and familiarity with Azure IaaS. u2022 Administration of Microsoft 365 and Exchange Online, and working knowledge of Citrix. u2022 Experience implementing backup, replication, and disaster recovery solutions with documented runbooks and tested failover. u2022 Solid grasp of networking fundamentals (TCP IP, VLANs, routing, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, firewalls) and troubleshooting methodology. u2022 Clear communication, strong documentation habits, and a customer-focused mindset. u2022 Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision, including leading site integrations and acquisition network conversions to Meraki (e.g., Fortinet-to-Meraki, Sophos-to-Meraki). u2022 Azure networking (Virtual WAN, ExpressRoute, Azure Firewall, NSG) and identity (Entra ID or Azure AD), plus Intune or Endpoint Manager preferred. u2022 Infrastructure as Code and automation (Terraform or Ansible), along with CI CD for infrastructure, are preferred. u2022 Linux exposure (basic administration, scripting, patching) preferred. u2022 Relevant certifications such as Meraki CMNA or ECMS, Fortinet NSE 4+, Cisco or CCNA level, or Microsoft Azure Administrator preferred. u2022 Travel up to approximately 15% domestic with occasional international travel (around 5%), depending on project and site needs. Additional Skills & Qualifications The candidate will need to be able to travel both domestically and internationally since this is a global company; that said, the travel isn't extensive.
