The Patient Accommodations Reservation Specialist is under the general direction of the Administrative Supervisor/Manager and is primarily responsible for coordinating the patient room assignment procedures and maintaining an up to date census and location of patients and vacant beds. They are also responsible for assignment of Patient Status and correction of patient status.Maintain confidentiality of patients.Patient Status ClassificationLogs and monitor physician’s orders into computer database according to procedure.Correct status Census Control:Contact Nurse Managers and nursing units for information on planned dischargesPrepare and maintain room availabilityMaintain hospital at correct admission level. Room Assignment:Decide on the priority of rooms to be cleaned and/or general cleaned.Make decisions on assignments of rooms for admission and transfers according to hospital and admission policiesCoordinates bed assignment with Nurse Mangers and StaffingWorks with the Nurse Epidemiologist to place isolation patients appropriately.Transfers:Prepare and maintain patient transfer list.Coordinate with nursing service and housekeeping (in accordance with established policies and procedures) for the transfer of patients as requested by Medical Staff or hospital staff.Arrange transfer according to priorities established by policy.General Office Duties:Maintain and update all patient status changes in computer, track and update daily reports on special procedure codes.Assist in answering telephones within the department within (three rings).Maintain neat and orderly work area.Midnight shift mails reports to Bed Board, Daily Admission, Daily Discharges, Discrepancy list, Exception list, and MRSA list, to be done at midnight.Maintain and update all patient status changes in comDCH Standards:Maintains performance, patient and employee satisfaction and financial standards as outlined in the performance evaluation.Performs compliance requirements as outlined in the Employee HandbookMust adhere to the DCH Behavioral Standards including creating positive relationships with patients/families, coworkers, colleagues and with self.Performs essential job functions in a manner that ensures the safety of patients, visitors and employees.Identifies and reduces unsafe practices that may result in harm to patients, visitors and employees.Recognizes and takes appropriate action to reduce risks and hazards to promote safety for patients, visitors and employees.Requires use of electronic mail, time and attendance software, learning management software and intranet.Must adhere to all DCH Health System policies and procedures.All other duties as assigned.Computer and/or computer software knowledge or experience.
