At Houston Methodist, the Nursing Professional Development Leader II (PDL II) position is a specialist role, as evidenced by experience, credentials, and performance. The Nursing Professional Development (NPD) practitioner influences the professional practice of nursing, and other healthcare learners, to create a positive impact on the patients and families served, as well as overall population health. The PDL II primarily practices in the hospital central department, or learning environment, with emphasis on core hospital-based programs impacting a variety of nursing and interdisciplinary learners. In addition to performing the essential functions of the PDL I role, the PDL II engages in strategic thinking, leadership, program oversight, and coordination of nursing professional initiatives to advance entity and system goals and the NPD profession. This position contributes across the entity and HM system and serves as a mentor and resource to RN staff, as well as other NPD practitioners.
