Eatonu2019s ES GEIS BLD division is currently seeking a Environmental Health & Safety Technician - 1st Shift to join our team in Reno, NV The core hours are 6 am - 2:30 pm. Overtime may exceed these hours and be mandatory at times. The hourly rate for this position is $34.20 per hour. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. What youu2019ll do: The Environmental Health & Safety Technician is responsible for implementing and maintaining regulatory requirements relating to OSHA, RCRA, EPA, and DOT, as well as working with engineers and technicians daily to ensure our Eaton Reno NV facility can support the focus factories cadence goals while meeting all environmental, health, and safety objectives. In this function you will: u2022 Recognize requirements and ensure compliance to safety programs and standards including hazard communication, slip/trip/falls, fall protection, confined space, hot work, respiratory protection, lockout/tag-out (LOTO), machine guarding, power and hand-held tools, electrical, emergency shower and eyewash, and chemical management. u2022 Perform boots on the ground safety oversight by identifying and correcting workplace hazards and unsafe conditions. u2022 Identify workplace safety hazards and conditions for job-related tasks. u2022 Maintain and implement compliance of site-specific safety policies. u2022 Perform hazardous and non-hazardous waste management including proper handling, labeling, and storage. u2022 Monitor waste at satellite accumulation areas and move full containers to Central Accumulation Area (CAA). u2022 Order and maintain adequate spill supplies: spill pads, empty drums, secondary containment, and other equipment necessary to maintain safe handling and correct disposal of hazardous waste. u2022 Help manage the storage of hazardous waste. u2022 Assist with other campus-wide operations and maintenance programs assigned by facilities management. u2022 Understand MESH system. u2022 Own MESH elements Qualifications: Required (Basic) Qualifications: u2022 High school diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution. u2022 Minimum of 5 years of Manufacturing Experience u2022 Minimum of 1 year of experience with health and safety plans and policies. u2022 Eaton will not consider applicants for employment immigration sponsorship or support for this position. Preferred Qualifications: u2022 Experience with use of and training for scaffolding, cranes, forklifts, boom and scissor lifts, lifting straps/slings, and fall protection equipment. u2022 Experience with emergency response crews in incidents involving hazardous and non-hazardous material releases to air, soil, and water. u2022 Experience using Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook). u2022 2+ years of hands-on technician experience in an environment, health, and safety role. Skills: u2022 Ability to multi-task, to manage shifting priorities and to follow through on projects with minimal supervision. u2022 Ability to work in a high-concentration, fast-paced environment, and work well on a team. u2022 Ability to recognize construction or industrial storm water requirements, Spill Prevention Countermeasures and Control plan (SPCC) requirements and address spills in a compliant manner. u2022 Ability to read, understand, and communicate work-related safety instructions, procedures, blueprints, and other documentation both verbally and in writing as required for a safe and effective job performance. u2022 Basic computers skills (Windows, MSOffice, and other related industrial software) u2022 Strong communication skills to work with all employees throughout plant. u2022 Requires PPE to include safety glasses, steel-toe shoes with met guards, wear area appropriate PPE including FR clothing and hearing protection (as required in high noise areas). u2022 Employee must be able to work in a heavy industrial environment with large manufacturing equipment. u2022 Ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time; bend and lift up to 50lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation. u2022 Willingness to work flexible hours including overtime and weekends. u2022 Able to train employees in tasks related to safety and environmental. #LI-SK1 All positions may require participation in video and in-person interviews as part of the hiring process.
