GENERAL SUMMARY: The Point of Use Specialist will have overall ownership and accountability for supporting the procedural case cart picking function and proper documentation of supplies used and returned for the procedures/services assigned. The focus for this position will be to conduct the case cart picking function for procedural supplies in the Operating Room inventory locations, provide support to Clinicians including RN Circulator, Scrub Tech and Physician(s) during procedures, and performing audits/reconciliation after the cases to ensure proper documentation and inventory management. Assists with inventory management and optimization activities in order to minimize stock outs, overstock situations and coordinate and control supply expenses and primarily support seamless product flow in the OR. Ensures accurate documentation occur on Epic Medical Record during the procedure. The Point of Use Specialist will be required to support the Circulators and other clinical staff to ensure all preference card listed products are available prior to the surgeries and to enhance the picking and documentation processes. PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: u00b7 Completes the case cart picking for items that live within Operating Room Inventory Locations, including sterile processes trays that are stored within Operating Room Inventory Locations u00b7 Utilizes PeopleSoft Point of Use technology to scan all supply items onto patient encounter to be used during surgical procedure and returned to inventory for lack of use; include all necessary documentation i.e. quantity opened, quantity hold. u00b7 Provides direct, hands on support to Clinical team (RN Circulator, Scrub Tech and Physician(s)_ during procedures within the Operating Room including obtaining additional supplies during the case that was not originally delivered from the pick tickets, scanning and recording the addition to the case. u00b7 Responsible for rapidly looking up PeopleSoft item numbers at the request of the Clinician to support proper documentation. u00b7 Serves as the primary communicator between Supply Chain Management and Surgical Services to inform surgical teams of daily new inventory products and product locations, product stock outs, and product substitution. u00b7 Responsible for enforcing HFHS Vendor protocols within the sterile core of the Operating Room u00b7 Performs product put-away activities for unused items returned from surgical procedure. 8. Responsible for managing the daily reports within POU system i.e. (Overdue Orders, Backorder, Low Stock, Out of Stock, Nearing Expiration, Bill only) and all other reports that fall under this role. u00b7 Support hospital site and systemwide Preference Card maintenance process; communicating bin location changes to be reflected and updated on Epic pick tickets. u00b7 Responsible for managing the inventory supply activity within the assigned OR rooms and ensuring proper PeopleSoft Point of Use patient encounter information reflects to the best of your knowledge, all supply utilization during respective surgical procedure. u00b7 Responsible for managing the daily expiration inspection of all products entering Operating Room u00b7 Responsible for managing the receipt and replenishment of supplies and the timely return of unused supplies to their appropriate areas. u00b7 Work with the Supply Chain and Clinical leadership to create and implement best practices within the department. u00b7 Interact and maintain positive employee relations with physicians, clinical nurses and technicians on a daily basis. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: u00b7 College Degree preferred in Logistics, Supply Chain Management or other related curriculum preferred, or equivalent work experience. u00b7 High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent with a minimum of three (3) years prior work experience. Three to five (3-5) years of experience in an Operating Room or Procedural environment preferred, either clinical or Supply Chain oriented. u00b7 Strong communication skills both verbal and written, ability to effectively execute plans, achieve results and improve overall operations. u00b7 Must be able to follow established objectives and priorities. u00b7 Must be able to focus on those things required to accomplish objectives and goals. u00b7 Must be action and detailed oriented; demonstrates an energy for embracing challenges and changing priorities. u00b7 Strong interpersonal skills, employee development and inventory management. u00b7 Strong workflow management experience required. u00b7 Effective and efficient use of time management is paramount, able to attend to a broad range of activities. u00b7 Strong computer skills, working knowledge of PeopleSoft, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and required web-based software programs. u00b7 Basic knowledge of surgical operations and environment, as well as supplies and equipment used during surgery is desired.
