Job Title: Chemical Engineer Job Description This Chemical Engineer role supports production operations by leading process and equipment improvement projects, implementing new and upgraded equipment, and ensuring smooth handoff of new products from development to manufacturing. The engineer collaborates closely with product development teams on new product launches, applies core chemical engineering principles such as P&ID development, process flow design, and hazard analysis, and plays a key role in troubleshooting and optimizing equipment and processes. Responsibilities + Lead and execute production-focused improvement projects, including process optimization and equipment upgrades to enhance safety, quality, and efficiency. + Support day-to-day production operations by troubleshooting equipment issues and resolving process-related problems in a timely manner. + Collaborate with product development teams to support new product development projects and ensure successful launch and scale-up into manufacturing. + Manage the handoff of new equipment and new products from product development to manufacturing, ensuring robust processes and documentation are in place. + Develop and interpret P&ID diagrams and process flow diagrams to support design, modification, and optimization of production processes. + Conduct hazard analyses and contribute to safety assessments for processes, equipment, and materials used in production. + Apply structured problem-solving tools and root cause analysis methodologies to investigate process deviations, quality issues, and equipment failures. + Handle and test materials in a lab environment to support process development, troubleshooting, and validation activities. + Work cross-functionally with engineering, production, and R&D teams to align process improvements with business and product goals. + Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and support the implementation of best practices across the manufacturing operations. + Support equipment and process-related aspects of counter-production and new product introduction projects. + Document process changes, improvement activities, and technical findings clearly and accurately to support ongoing operations and knowledge sharing. Essential Skills + Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering. + 5+ years of experience in chemical engineering preferred, with openness to a mix of chemical and manufacturing experience. + Strong knowledge of chemical engineering fundamentals, including P&ID diagrams, process flow development, and hazard analysis. + Proficiency with structured problem-solving tools and root cause analysis techniques. + Experience troubleshooting production equipment and resolving process issues in a manufacturing environment. + Experience handling materials in a lab environment for testing and process support. + Ability to collaborate effectively with product development, production, and cross-functional engineering teams. + Strong analytical, organizational, and documentation skills to support process development and improvement work. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience working in a manufacturing environment that produces thermoset materials, laminates, or similar industrial materials is beneficial. + Experience supporting new product introduction and scale-up from R&D or product development into full-scale manufacturing is an advantage. + Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies and tools is helpful. + Interest in working within industries tied to power generation, data centers, and AI-related infrastructure. + Desire and ability to grow into new engineering functions or leadership roles as the business expands. Work Environment The role follows a Monday through Friday schedule, typically from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The engineer spends most of the time on the factory floor, with some work performed in an office and lab setting. The facility produces thermoset materials and high-pressure laminates, including in-house production of raw laminate materials. Other groups within the factory use these materials to produce tubes, shapes, and rods that are supplied to fabricators, who then create parts for OEM customers in the power generation and electrical transformer sectors. The environment is hands-on, production-focused, and closely connected to critical infrastructure industries such as power generation and the rapidly growing demand from AI-related data centers.
