Job Description Location: Chicago, Illinois Hospital: Rush University Medical Center Department: Interventional Radiology Work Type: Full Time (Total FTE between 0.9 and 1.0) Interventional Radiology Advanced Practice Provider Rush University System for Health Chicago & Oak Park, IL Rush University Medical Center, a nationally recognized clinical and academic institution and the teaching hospital for Rush Medical and Nursing Colleges, located in downtown Chicago, invites applications for the position of Interventional Radiology (IR) Advanced Practice Provider (APP). The IR APP will deliver comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care, including consultation, peri-procedural evaluation, and longitudinal patient management. This role combines inpatient rounding, outpatient clinic care, and image-guided procedures, functioning within a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. Department/division specs u00b7 Practice alongside nine Interventional Radiology physicians and four fellow APPs u00b7 Integrated academic environment with residency and fellowship programs u00b7 Collaboration with vascular surgery, oncology, hepatology, transplant, and critical care teams u00b7 Nationally recognized for clinical excellence and innovation Duties & Responsibilities: u00b7 4, 10-hour shifts/week u00b7 Hybrid inpatient, outpatient, and procedural role u00b7 Dedicated weekly clinic sessions (including Rush Oak Park Hospital) u00b7 Image-guided and clinic-based procedures u00b7 Pod model with assigned physician and nurse u00b7 Reporting directly to the Interventional Radiology Department Administrator Key Responsibilities: Inpatient & Procedural Care u00b7 Perform daily inpatient rounding on assigned Interventional Radiology patients u00b7 Provide follow-up management for patients with IR-placed drains, lines, and feeding tubes u00b7 Coordinate care with physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize outcomes u00b7 Deliver patient education, discharge planning, and post-procedure care instructions u00b7 Provide cross-coverage for line and drain management during APP absences u00b7 Perform image-guided procedures, including: u00b7 Paracentesis u00b7 Thoracentesis u00b7 Bone marrow and bone lesion biopsies u00b7 Aspirations with or without drainage catheter placement u00b7 Drain checks and removals u00b7 Support peri-procedural evaluation and management of complex patients u00b7 Ensure accurate, timely documentation of all inpatient and procedural encounters u00b7 Maintain procedural competency and adhere to safety and quality standards u00b7 Complete and document comprehensive history and physical examinations, health assessments, and individualized care plans u00b7 Order, perform, and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests and procedures within scope of practice u00b7 Prescribe medications and therapies (pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic) as delegated u00b7 Initiate consultations and make appropriate referrals to other healthcare professionals and services u00b7 Ensure clear, concise, and accurate documentation in the electronic medical record Outpatient Clinic u00b7 Maintain dedicated weekly clinic sessions (including Rush Oak Park Hospital) u00b7 Practice within a pod model alongside an assigned physician and nurse u00b7 Conduct follow-up visits for IR patients, including those with drains and feeding tubes u00b7 Perform clinic-based procedures as appropriate u00b7 Manage patient communication, including: u00b7 Post-procedure concerns u00b7 Drain and line care questions u00b7 Coordination of follow-up care u00b7 Provide comprehensive patient education on self-care and post-procedure management u00b7 Collaborate with nursing staff to ensure continuity of care and patient satisfaction u00b7 Support efficient clinic operations and timely patient throughput Preferred Qualifications: u00b7 Applicants with previous Advanced Practice Provider experience preferred, not required. Relevant RN experience may be considered. u00b7 APRN Candidates will require Acute Care Certification. Position Requirements: Nurse Practitioner: + Current licensure from the State of Illinois as a Registered Professional Nurse and Advanced Practice Nurse or eligible to obtain a licensure through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) application process + Master of Science in Nursing or Doctorate of Nursing practice with clinical specialty appropriate to position + Current certification by American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioner (AANP) + CPR, ACLS, and PALS certifications Physician Assistant: + Current licensure from the State of Illinois as a Physician Assistant/Associate or eligible to obtain a licensure through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) application process + Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant/Associate Program + Current certification from National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants + CPR, ACLS, and PALS certifications The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will promote collaboration between multiple disciplines to ensure cost effective and quality patient care.
