Description We are looking for a highly skilled Bookkeeper to join our team on a contract basis in Chicago, Illinois. This role is pivotal in supporting our non-profit organization by managing accounts payable and receivable, processing invoices, and ensuring accurate financial records. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in non-profit fund accounting, government grants, and allocations, along with experience in streamlining financial processes. Focus on AP & AR, grant experience in a plus. Responsibilities: u2022 Oversee accounts payable and receivable operations, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices. u2022 Prepare and submit grant applications, with a focus on government grants and funding compliance. u2022 Manage consolidated fund accounting for multiple revenue streams, ensuring proper allocation and reporting. u2022 Modernize and optimize invoice processing systems, including transitioning to updated credit card platforms. u2022 Collaborate with consulting firms to monitor cash flow and maintain financial accuracy. u2022 Handle high volumes of invoices, including installment and monthly payments, and ensure vendor requirements are met. u2022 Conduct regular check runs and batch processing to maintain operational efficiency. u2022 Maintain organized financial records through scanning and paper filing as needed. u2022 Communicate effectively with internal teams and vendors, taking detailed notes during training and onboarding. u2022 Support budgeting and financial operations for social enterprise initiatives, such as Be Love Cafu00e9 and Sweet Beginnings. Requirements u2022 Proven experience in bookkeeping, particularly within the non-profit sector. u2022 Proficiency in QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, and other accounting software. u2022 Strong knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations. u2022 Demonstrated expertise in government grants, including application and compliance processes. u2022 Ability to manage and allocate funds across multiple revenue sources. u2022 Familiarity with modernizing financial systems and streamlining workflows. u2022 Excellent organizational and communication skills, with attention to detail. u2022 Capability to handle high-volume invoice processing and vendor management.
